Of course people care.

But weren't the massive concessions the TWU gave the company on our behalf supposed to avoid layoffs?

If they keep cutting mechanics, who will work on the planes? Robots?

The demise of MCI has been forthcoming since 4.10.01. These furloughs are yet another step in streamlining AA back to where it was prior to TWA's purchase. Not a big news item here at MCIE. We knew they were coming, many have already secured another profession.

The old adage of.."what goes around comes around" will soon be hitting the nAAtives after their "TWA Cushion" is long gone. Then you will see AA eat their own in order to remain competitive with the outsourcing of major O/H by the other airlines. AA sends promises of 3rd party work yet has not performed well with 3rd party prior to TWA purchase, what has changed?

MCItransplant...I feel for the remaining brothers, both TWAers and AAers, who will be asked to give more, sacrifice more, and endure more, until their employment package shrinks to less than AAR in Indy. Those are the brothers and sisters we should be caring about.

Let's just hope they face the adversity of no employment as well as their predecessors.

What happened to the "twu saves jobs."

Layoff numbers are as follows:

321 Amt's
10 QA
12 A/C Cleaners
69 Title 2

The difference between an airline mechanic and a large pizza is that a large pizza can still feed a family of four.

With names like that, you could be describing line mechanics at LAX or SJC. 😀

If you're gonna fly to lots of countries where Julio, Carlos, Ricardo and Javier are common names and take their money for flying on AA, doesn't seem to be anything wrong with employing a few of them.

The TWU has saved jobs, just not all of them. Understandably so.

The last union meeting at 514 D. Burchette said he didn't want any management to get laid off! I guess the twu is into saving management jobs also. This love fest is getting more bizarre by the day!

AA/TWU is determined to keep AA an employment agency at any wage instead of a profession with good wages and benefits.
D.Burchette and the other TWU officers drank the AA kool-aid at the pajama party.
They do not want to have any fights in the public that make it appear that their marriage is in trouble.

So it has been officially announced in the WSJ - 500 jobs effective in June. I assume that MCIE has been running some delayed replacement and that there will be some additional attrition between now and then. The rest will be layoffs. Any estimates on how many actual layoffs there will be?

Also, would the timing of this also be magically the same as the end of the LRTC conversions? Was MCIE doing that work? Any idea if there will be work transferred from MCIE to TULE or elsewhere?

Can someone tell me why AA purchased TWA

AA has less planes and less people now then when they acquired TWA

What was the point.

How many AMTs from MCI are going to bump NYC and displace more AA AMTs

That's ok when the TWAers bump AAers.

Perfectly alright!
