What's new

More pilot recalls coming!

So get out into your own business and shut the f up!

Heck. There ain't much better business than selling junior pilots and senior pilots who are not acitve, ie the retirees. Until that crop runs out why work for a living? 😀

you missed MY point...whats screwed up IS fact that I have the choice of going back to A legacy carrier, but my current option at a REGIONAL is BETTER...thanks SO much for your career advice

You have said a lot. I am a military pilot so don't have a full appreciation of the woes of regionals except vicariously. I remember sitting in Indoc at US Air and watching the former regional pilots who were sitting with me in Indoc as newhires to USAir. When USAir instructors were telling us what our work rules and benefits were you would have thought the regional pilots thought they had just won the freeking lottery. They really did. They could not believe how much better it was at mainline. It was then that I had a glimpse at how bad the regionals sucked. And now...

The USAir ALPA pilots are the most dicredited and unrespected association flyboys in the industry.

So what are you personally doing to change that? Are you an ALPA volunteer? Will you be on the informational picket lines next week? Are you flying 95 hours every month?

If your not part of the solution then........

I think the E190 pay scales are an embarrassment. I haven't voted in favor of anything put out by the union since they gave away the pension in the middle of the night.

However, when the pilots of both east and west accepted them, there were no pilots flying that aircraft. The pay rates are not being imposed on anyone, at least not yet. Everyone who will be flying the E190 in the near term took the bid voluntarily.

Until they have run through the furloughee list and start 'imposing' the E190 by saying return or forfeit your recall rights, the whining should be absent (or at least minimal.) The company has been vindicated in these pay rates by the fact that the bottom furloughees haven't been forced to take ALL the seats; the fact is, they have no seats since none have gone wanting.

As I understand it, you don't jeopardize your recall unless you bypass an Airbus/Boeing.

Thanks for the info. If correct, it bolsters the argument that the pay rates for the 190 can't be all that dreadful. If the rates are too terrible to endure, just don't fly it. Some must be finding the 190 a better deal than they already have though. Actions speak louder than words.

Following that logic it would seem all the other pay rates must be grossly inflated.

Yeah. I'm a volunteer. I volunteer to never do a walk around or raise the gear handle for less than 80K with a reasonable expectation to be a Captain at 140K. I ain't your problem. Your problem is the pilot who voted to make others fly for 32K at Mainline and who feel vindicated because a couple of pilots volunteer to fly at that wage. 🙄

The payrate for the 190 isn't dreadful...? To think that the retirees had their pension taken to buy the smaller jets, that 2,000 pilots were booted out, that the new pilots will actually fly for 33K as a fourth year Mainline FO... and to think that none of them voted on that though they are members of ALPA. Well heck if I had voted to throw that many ALPA families under the bus then I too would have to convince myself that it wasn't that dreadful.

I feel sorry for the senior pilots who just can't stomach the reality of what mgmnt asks them to vote for to the detriment of folks junior to them. They have to pinch their nose, cover their ears, and cover their eyes when they pull the ladder up on a sinking ship. Its a sad place but what is one to do? Maybe a junior guy will accept it so you can feel better that he apparently is happy with what you gave him...

Really. I feel sorry for the guys who have to cling to such logic in order to keep a good seal on their nose.

Let me reiterate. I voted NO for everything that has come down the pike since 31 March 2003. This includes the 190 pay rates. But the rates MUST be attractive to some, because no 190 seat has been left unfilled. Had NO ONE bid for the 190s (and the dreadful payscales,) the company would have had to hire off the street, including direct entry captains! Anyone who bid the 190 (especially the captain's chair) must find it acceptable, since every one of them already had a job here and each was under no obligation to bid for it.

Large numbers of USAir ALPA pilots did not get to vote on the pay scales of the contract or the funding source that helped buy them, but they are clearly enabling the pay scales of those who did have the opportunity to vote...

Well because the retirees had the opportunity to sue but some didn't, and some furloughees took the 190... well it must be acceptable for everyone (voters and nonvoters) because a few who never got a chance to vote are now going along with it.

You excuse the yes voters in public, but asure us that you voted no in private. Got it.

Cheers

Pattern Bargaining, Bubba, Pattern Bargaining. Those pay rates are showing up around the industry.

US Airways pilots - leading the race to the bottom (good luck getting them to admit that).

You know what? We aren't leading the race to the bottom, we won the race to the bottom.

Chastise all you want about the vote. 57% or our ---sy pilots voted LOA 93. A like number of ---sy pilots voted for the 190 pay rates. But the blame is not just on their shoulders. It's also on the shoulders of the guys who agree to fly at those rates. You can make more money outside this industry with your college degree. But some prefer to fly for crap.

There's plenty of blame to go around. Flying for crap is part of the problem too. I freely admit the U pilots are ---sy's. Hows about taking some blame for allowing management to pay the crap wages by working for them?

Thanks, Pilot. Maybe Phoenix will understand your explanation.
