And over in US Airways circus ring 3 you will see the removal by the end of next week of all the Electric Carts in our PHL HUB! 😱

I didn't think it was true when I heard it this morning so maybe more to the story. Three agents and two supervisors told me this morning that indeed they are going bye-bye in the next week or two. No reasons stated. For all the disabled people who fly us with tight connections, I hope you get your Smart Cart rental ready. Anyone got the scoop?

Another brilliant move!! NOT....wait until one disabled person sues them for discrimination for eliminating the carts.......

It just goes from bad to worse..

I say good riddance! I hate those things! The drivers are rude and 90% of the people who use them are just lazy.

Use a wheelchair if you need one.

This from the same guy who was complaining in another thread about US discriminating against the disabled? Pick a side and stick with it.
Many people have mobility problems but dont want the association with a wheelchair. The cart enables one person to transport many people instead of having to have a skycap/wheelchair for each person needing assistance. If the carts are eliminated are we getting more skycaps and wheelchairs to take up the slack?

Carts are sometimes the only way for non-disabled passengers to make a connection when their inbound flight is late. This happened to us on Christmas afternoon in Charlotte.

Maybe they figured they could sell them on craigslist to help pay for the first class service "enhancements" that are nowhere to be seen.

I guess they will be using gate agents to help push the wheelchairs around. Now who will be working the gate? Oh yeah, the illegals that just applied!

Even US wouldn't be this stupid. Err, then again......:stupid:

Please someone tell us this is not true.

Aside from the BS answer that JS posts, I don't get why US would completely discontinue the electric carts, especially at the A-West/A-east side where distances are quite considerable. There are indeed elderly folks who need these services ( speaking from experience with my 88 year old father ). Perhaps certain parts of the airport could be served with wheel chairs, but in others, it isn't practical ( or fast if time is of the essence ).

Hate to say it, but it looks like Tempe's agenda and product is not where it needs to be.

This does not just deal with the disabled, they helped shuttle paxs coming from late domestic flts going to outbound international flts. When i waited for my SJU flt 2 months ago, i saw at least 20-30 non disabled people who were transported by these carts to TA flts.

Good question. I would not put it past Philadelphia to so domething like this as well.

Give me a break. The guy in JAX who was the victim of US' incompetence couldn't possibly use a cart.

Removing the carts is discrimination against the lazy. Big deal.

I don't buy the excuse "but people need carts to make their connections". I can run faster than those carts. That's because I'm not a lazy person.

Look at it another way -- there are lots of airports with no carts, some of them quite large such as LGA, DAL or LAX.
