New 767 Staffing?

...or USAviation.com. Obviously, somebody needs to be looking over YOUR shoulder,

Oh, they do. We use Websense (as do a lot of other companies) to monitor who spends time where. My employees get to see my online time along side theirs.

monitoring YOUR usage of compensated time.

Now there's a laugh... There's no such thing as compensated time in my line of work. I'm contracted by the month, not the hour. That means the "luxury" of working weekends, 02:30 wake up calls to troubleshooting problems, traveling for two weeks at a time, etc. without any increase in my salary from month to month.

So, try to deflect it on me all you want, but it doesn't change the perception that the manning on some flights smacks of featherbedding. I've seen it on my last couple flights, especially in the J cabin.

If there's enough downtime on a fairly full flight for a FA's butt to be glued to a jumpseat reading Cosmo, I can see why HDQ would be questioninig why they need to be staffing that position at all.

I'd be happy to take pictures the next time I see it, but I'm sure some over paranoid FA would probably see it as a a security threat and have the Captain divert...

It would be AGAINST AA corporate policy to photograph the flight crew. It is noted in the Passenger Information section of the American Way Magazine located in the seatback pocket in front of you. So maybe diverting might be too much, but I wouldn't be surprised if some LEO meets you at your destination. At the very least it would be very likely that you will be given a passenger disturbance form to remind you of your obligations and expected behavior on AA.

Let's see... Photographing a crew is against AA corporate policy, but so is intentional restriction of output on a flight where there's no mandated crew rest period.

Do the two negatives cancel each other out?...

Well, I suppose that when you get in trouble for snapping your pictures you could use the excuse that you wanted proof for your message board.

Restriction of output huh? We are allowed breaks sometimes. Imagine that. 🙄

So am I... and it doesn't matter if I do it on a message board or standing 30' from the nearest entrance having a smoke.

But I don't do it when I have customers waiting, and if there's enough time for at least one person to be on a break at any given time, there's something seriously wrong with staffing.

Skimess, you have to remember its ok for Eric to us a company computer and company time to write on this board because he’s management and they can do that. God help the front line employees of any company if we are not productive for 100% of the time. You have to remember management is special.

If you are ever on one of my flights and take a picture of me or any one of my fellow crew members...

It will be the last picture you take for a long time. The next picture you see taken will be a nice mugshot of you in a federal prison!

I will also be a the proud owner of your camera and computer (in case you decide to download the pictures onto it).

Don't tempt me. I don't put up with *** ***** like you!

You're right. My bad. It's the mantle of management entitlement.

The guy hasn't worked for AMR for what, over a year now? Give it a rest.

I know that, but he’s still management. Eric in his own posts on this link stated when employees complain to him about being over worked he pulls up their records of internet use. But it’s ok for him to do the same because he doesn’t complain.

I remember back when us FA's were gearing up for our strike in 93.
I was the number one on a 727, and this first class drip who claimed to be some kind of major stockholder kept interfering with our service by attempting to intimidate us with his Polariod one-step camera. He was so disgusting, as he tipped the scales at a white whale ratio, and ranted and raved all the while with hunks of chicken kiev drooling from the corner of his mouth.

He took his Polariod pictures of us crew entering the lav, leaving the lav, and while eating our crew meals. And every time he snapped his Polaroid at us, he would bellow with a piece of lettuce hanging from his two front teeth, "Im sending these pictures STRAIGHT to Crandall".

We finally started posing for him, just to piss him off even more. I wish I had that Polariod he shot of me and the number three, as one of us was giving him the bird while the other was blowing him a kiss. Wonder if he sent that Polariod moment "STRAIGHT to Crandell".

I, myself, wish I had a copy of it to hang on my refigerator today, and think "Ohhh, the good times".

I would LOVE to represent the f/a on this one....You have no idea if the f/a had been in a discussion with a pax on a particular issue and he/she was looking for an article at another passengers request...I'd win. lol Sort of like the Supv. who was almost gleeful thinking she had caught a f/a sleeping on the jumpseat. The Supv. tapped the f/a on the shoulder and said to report to In-flight at the end of the flight. The f/a asked for what reason and the Supv. replied, "For probable termination for sleeping". The f/a smiled and said, "Sleeping? No. Praying, yes. Are we not allowed to pray these days?" You can turn ANY situation around if the need is there.

I'm a customer. AMR's internet use policies mean as much to me as the Kleenex I just tossed in the trash.

And no, I don't need a camera. The pen (or keyboard) is more than enough these days. Go look at the thread about the FA who threw snack packlets at the customer. It's on a blog read by thousands of people each day (including journalists who then rehash the stuff elsewhere).

The sad part that you normally know who the slugs are, and tolerate it because "it's not your job" and it's easier to blame management when they bring down the hammer...

Never knew this was AA or FAA policy to prohibit photography on an aircraft. Where is this policy? I take pictures on airplanes all the time both out the window and internal shots if I see something interesting.
