New AA Union Drive

Who exactly is spearheading this drive? I would like to know the names, (by station) starting at Tulsa. I'm praying it's not AMFA in Sheep clothing.

I wonder if the TWU and company are going to let the same dead people vote like they did with AMFA.

Even those did not get to exercise their right to vote. The compAAny simply used those inflated numbers to prevent a vote from happening. Anything to keep their lAApdog union!

I looking at this as a chance to do something about the mess we have - if enough people sign a card (to the extent the company and union can't deny a vote) we can always vote against them if we find it is, in fact, the people we don't want running our representation.

The gentlemen leading the Tulsa AMFA drive were highly intelligent, dedicated, and sacrificial in their quest to not only promote the mechanic craft and class, but to rid the industry of this concession leading union. Their arguments are still as valid today as they were 10 years ago. Sure, there were personality conflicts. Perhaps that's your complaint with the " AMFA in Sheep clothing" or perhaps your just identifying targets.

I understand this fellow's concerns - I'm interested also with regard to the "WHO" question.

As badly as I want to throw the TWU out on its collective ass, I'll have that "WHO" question answered before I drop my already signed and stamped card (here on the desk) in the mail.

This is what we need! I am tired of not only fighting the company, but the so called union as well. All the secret deals and double speak have got to go. Yeah, I can support this effort. There is enough negativity around, (Tony) something like this as well as a no vote on the TA will be a welcome sign for everybody.

Sign me up for this alone. Like the stores part to.

Section 1. Qualifications

B. No one except honorary members shall be permitted a membership who is not in either the Mechanic and Related or Stores Craft and Class at American Airlines.
C. No one shall be admitted for membership who has willfully acted as a strikebreaker or scab or who has secured or attempted to secure employment rights as a scab during any duly authorized strike.

#1 Read the AMP Constitution and you will read that it really doesn't matter WHO, once AMP wins the elections are majority rule with run-offs, instead of the current TWU plurarty elections where your President only got 685 votes and is elected. There is also term limits and direct election of National Officers.

#2. Really need to know? There is a phone number on the AMP National website and you could simply call and ask WHO if it really matters to you.

#3. Any corrupt organization such as the TWU is always on a "days are numbered" watch list.

#4. With a runoff election system, the membership will actually demonstrate support for the elected leaders. Instead of having life long leaders that continue to win by flooding the ballot with candidates. Plus there will actually be membership accountability at both the Local and National levels. No more appointed leaders offered 6 figure salaries to sellout the dues payers in favor of company slanted agreements.

#5. Both the Pilots and Flight Attendants at American Airlines have independent representation. Neither group is currently voting on a membership dividing concession T/A like the TWU mechanics are currently reviewing.

I cannot wait for the NMB Election this time to payback the TWU for their efforts to deny the dues paying member the right to choose the representation of the desire. Using deceased and old TWA employees to prevent the NMB election last time is clear evidence that the TWU knew and still knows their own members are willing and surely will send them packing once given a ballot.

Note to all: You may not post names and addresses of anyone without their express written permission.

May I ask you AMT's at AA what happened with the AMFA drive, and why some of you have negative feelings about it? It seems you guys are like minded with a lot of AMFA supporters with one craft one union mentality, accountability, etc.

He may well be "spot on", as you say however - dealing with the TWU has left me rather gunshy re: unanswered questions and agreements not yet determined.

I've read the AMP Constitution twice and like it except, of course, the aforementioned lack of information re: where the new representation is coming from.

I will not hand a signed card to this new outfit than I would the TWU. The TWU has abused everyone's trust - AMP will have to earn the trust. Put some info on the AMP website.

Again - my card is printed and signed here on the home office desk waiting to be mailed.

Call the phone number at the bottom of the website pages and quit using your signed card as hostage ransom for a name to be posted here on this forum. The names and addresses are not allowed to be posted here as you are requesting so take a small amount of effort on your own and call the numbers.

On July 26, 2010 the petition asking for the suspension of the tentative agreement was turned over to new local 514 President Sam Cirri who was flying to NYC July 28, 2010 to meet with the TWU International to express membership concerns over the tentative agreement and the International's role in allowing it to be brought back.

I told Sam to use the petition like a stiletto knife when explaining our concerns about their sponsoring this concessionary agreement. The letter to Mr. Little explaining our objections was at the top of the stack of signatures.

We were able to turn in over 2200 signatures. Thank you very much for your efforts. Although ballots were mailed out I still believe our petition had a major impact. I believe this tentative will fail and when our negotiators go back to the table they will know the angst of a membership betrayed.

We are sick and tired of being sold out by our own International.

They will represent our best interests or suffer the consequences.
