With Kirk Wells gone, who will the TWU trot out this time?

Will there be a coffin?

OK - this is what our shop steward was talking about. He told us yesterday evening there would be a bunch of AMFA boys outside the gate picketing today. Evidently, the TWU is already resorting to lies.

I would be interested in hearing who is involved/leading in this effort - that was lacking on the new org's website - perhaps for good reason?

On the surface, it looks good after reading the Constitution - more info, please.

Wells is in the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area being a photographer. From what I've gathered/seen, he likes to get jailbait in front of his camera.
 
Hope it doesn't matter to those collecting the cards, but I'm not fond of sending anything through the mail with any personal info exposed as on a postcard-type of media with the daily news of identity theft.

My card is being sent in an envelope.
 
AMFA sympathizers? What do you mean by "sympathizers"? If you imply that someone who was/is an AMFA sympathizers they believe in a craft, democratic union for our profession, (much like the pilots and flight attendants have), you are using the wrong terminology.

You should use the expression "people who hold those accountable who they elect to represent their needs". Why do you try and use the word AMFA as a negative? Should you not direct your energy towards defeating the t/a that is coming to your mail box? There is no AMFA threat at AA so what is it that you fear?

I'm the one that first used the term "sympathizers" on this thread and then only repeating words used by my shop's union steward. Don't jump the other guy for it.

As I said previously, a couple nights ago he used the word "AMFA" more than I'd heard him say it in the last 5 years and found it rather amusing that AMFA is still blamed for everything wrong with the airline/travel industry.

Our steward is an older fellow who plans on retiring in a couple years and doesn't want any upsets in the remainder of his career at American. His style of executing his responsibilties is simply to not make waves and gets ignorant/walks away when he's asked a question he doesn't like or hasn't been fed the answer to in a steward's meeting.

I can't really blame the guy as I'd like to finish my years in the industry on a positive note also but I'll not do it that way.
 
How many cards or what percentage is required for the NMB to call a vote? I looked on the www.ampnational.org website and did not see the info. As we were signing our cards on the dock today @ AFW I promised the guys I would find out.

50% + 1 of the represented class.

Lesson from past drives is not to underestimate what the company and NMB consider the represented class. Get more cards than you think you need.
 
Guys, I can tell you this. When Local 567 chose to voice their opinion in front of the Tulsa M/E base, The new local President was having LOTS of text messages sent out to ALL of their shop stewards about this. In some of those texts, he stated that he (SAM) is very upset and found it disrespectfull of them to undermine this local. The shop stewards are now on a fact finding mission about finding out information, as they are either hearing or feeling the changes blowing in the wind. Remember this as you speak to these bootlickers as they will go groveling back to the Kremlin and regurgitate what they have heard.

I agree about people sitting on the fence about signing cards. I tell some of them "when will you close your legs or move and not let the TWU/company to continue to kick you in the balls?" I believe that things will start happening when International is forced to crawl out from "managements" desk and try to stand up and give the appearance "they are here with us'. I believe at that point is when people will see International for who they really are.
 
In the past the TWU has always criticized the threatening union that tried to take over. They would look at their past history and try to discredit them. Well with AMP there is no past history to discredit. So they can't approach it from that angle. The AMP is a grass roots union from within our own members. We know our past and so does the TWU because they made our past a miserable hell and forced us to take this path. So if they talk bad about AMP and how it is not the right choice, ask them how the flight attendants are doing on their own since they left the TWU back in 1977. APFA has been successful since leaving the TWU. The TWU can not improve or will not as long as there is no creditable threat to their flow of dues. The founding members of AMP are the direct result of the TWU failures. To insult the organizers of AMP is admitting that they themselves failed as a union. We need to start to think and succeed for ourselves. Now is the time or we can kiss our future goodbye. Can we afford to let ourselves down and the rest of this industry with another concessionary contract?

Fill out a card and mail it in. All you are doing is showing interest and telling the NMB you want an election for better representation. A vote will decide if we get it.

There is no doubt that not only the TWU, but the compAAny, will be watching the momentum closely. In a very short time we will see if this revolution amounts to a serious threat. Speed will be their ally. While the tactics of the NMB, AA, and the TWU during the AMFA drive were despicable and underhanded, I don't doubt that they are capable of the ruthless tactics of Northwest if given time.
 
I am sure we have all learned our lessons from the last drive we had here at AA. The list of all those people that were eligible in the eyes of the TWU, AA and the NMB. Someone out there must still have the list of people that were removed and the reasons why. So if it gets to a filing we will see if those pesky dead people as well as managers and others like TWA retirees that retired well before AA acquired TWA on the list. I remember the TWU making a case to add people that are currently not under the TWU as well as certain fleet service personnel who are not under our class and craft. Hopefully with a more labor friendly government in Washington the road blocks won't be as bad this time around.
 
I had the best evening at work I've had for quite some time today. After dropping the authorization card in the mailbox at the PO, I relaxed - everything fell into place this pm.
