What's new

New AA Union Drive

You missed the point! We are at the threshold of a TA brought to us under the rules of the RLA...How would we be in a different situation if represented under the AMP?

A point has been missed... by you. Exchanging ideas is a good thing but you do not do that. You ask questions you know the answers to.

This t/a was brought to us by the international. There is OPEN langauge in this t/a. Why do you want to vote on something that is not written down in black and white?

How would things be different if we were represented under the AMP? Your answers are in the AMP constitution. But you already knew that.

When I blogged about this over the weekend, I mentioned three items specifically from the proposed constitution which made AMP a real improvement.

1) No appointed leaders, and the ability to recall. Accountability which doesn't exist today with the TWU

2) Professional negotiators. You all know how I feel about this -- you're being outclassed at and away from the negotiating table. At the very least, you need a mix of laymen and people who aren't emotionally attached to the discussions to bring the laymen back down to Earth once in a while.

3) Capping the salary of the officers. You complain about AA management not pulling together, but the TWU International guys didn't share in any sacrifices either.

The only point I have an issue with is the "once you go into management you lose seniority" clause. During one of the last layoffs before I left AA, we hired a couple furloughees into non-supervisory positions. They were technically management, but with no operational or supervisory responsibilities. Both APFA and APA have a "step back" clause for people which allows people to fall back into their old positions. I'd advise following a similar path.

Thank you for your comments and support. As with any new idea or product the rough edges will be worked out.
This time we have a good handle on the situation. It's up to the membership to support it. Thanks to the TWU I believe this will sell fast. I enjoy your comments and posts although sometimes I disagree with you but that is what makes us think outside the box.

Does anybody know how many AMP cards have been signed so far?

Dont know probly bout 50
Im sure the TWU has nothing to worry about
How could a grassroots effort ever be successful
We are just doing this for fun
Now why dont you TWU die hards just take a little nap
nothing to worry about here 🙄
nothing going on here B)

I believe it's about time for the TWU to say how their going to promote change from within. Isn't that what we heard from them 6-7 years ago?

As Dennis Burchette once said "Nothing to worry about, they're just 12 peckernats"

This was not too long before RATFest when Burchette was asking D. Kruse to discipline union members for wearing union shirts and soliciting with "snake oil"

and twu with the "GREAT FLAG IN THE COFFIN MISSFIRE"

To all A.M.P supporters:
We need to get the word out to all the class 2/3 stations ie; SAT, AUS, RDU, SJU, ect. If you know fellow mechanics at these stations please contact them and let them know what is going on. I work at AFW and spoke with a TWU shop steward today and he said the International is very aware of what is going on, and does not take this drive very seriously. We need to get these cards in ASAP, and blindside the TWU. Lets get this done, its a golden op.

No numbers but pretty strong from AFW so far.
I have never seen this much interest and support at DFW. People handing out cards can't keep up. Far more overall support than AMFA got from what I see. I think even the most diehard TWU supporters have seen the light after this last T/A proposal. Hopefully all differences of the past will be put aside in support of this effort and we can stay focused as a unit. As a UNION!

I am sick and tired of hearing the die hard TWU BOOTLICKERS say lets give the new leadership at 514 a chance. This is coming from the same vile filth that go down to the alter of BAAL and prostrate themselves before the alter of TWU in fading hopes that they to can ride the money train on the backs of the workers who show up to work instead of getting on the committees and committing fornication with management and call it "business partner" with the manager. Sign a card!!! Go AMP

We have a decision to make no less important than the ones we make every single day of our working lives.

The asymmetric answer for AMR is in calculating the drag an organization like the TWU puts on their operational performance when even the good mechanics get tired of giving the extra that allows us to function.

Not supporting the TWU, and, allowing them to be replaced by an organization the mechanics actually believe in could get them where they want to be through increases in performance instead of reductions in wages, standards and working condiions.
