What's new

New AA Union Drive

well yesterday someone finally came around passing out a copy of the tulsa world article so I guess I have finally hread of AMP in chicago now and to be honest there seemed to be about as much interest in AMP as there is in the current T/A and that is not saying much

I'd say its 60% plus for yes because most of them guys are quite don't want to argue with no voters

then how many guys won't even vote that is going to be the most interesting part I hope they break it down by station by station

and at least 7 guys willing to cross on the first day of a strike
What grade are you in?

First you say there is little interest in AMP and the t/a, then you claim a 60% yes. Does that mean 60% interest in AMP? Also, your saying there are 7 who say they will SCAB in case of a strike. Their peers have no problem with that? Somethings wrong here.

That seems to be the problem with you AMP guys. When someone else has a different opinion than you,all you do is degrade them. This is just as bad as the TWU.

60% yes vote on T/A (sorry for not being clear on that birdman)

as far as interest in AMP just the guy passing out the news artilce

hey odie01 in reference to your question as what grade i'm in

why do you ask?

if its due to my spelling errors and etc sorry I never claimed to be a english major and some of its just from typing kind of fast I'm going to proof everthing that I post

Why have term limits? After all, if amp had a president that fought for and did a great job for M&R wouldn't you want to keep that person in office? If the Presidents wasn't doing so good, just recall them.

Looks like the AMP drive got Jimmy Little's attention. Unbelievable.

By AA AMTs voting in AMP we would loose the leverage we have by being in the biggest union at AA?

WHAT LEVERAGE IS HE TALKING ABOUT?

Again... a question you know the answer to. It is called accountability. Perhaps in the future the membership will VOTE to change this. You can't do that now under the twu. But you already knew this.

MUST NOT DISENT, MUST MARCH LOCKSTEP. MUST NOT DISENT, MUST MARCH LOCKSTEP. MUST NOT DISENT, MUST MARCH LOCKSTEP.

Anyone needing AMP cards at their station please go to the website and request them. Thanks
BTW, shop stewards have been instructed to remove all AMP material and shred all green cards laying around by order of the new fleet service president. Censorship at it's best. And in regard to the above post, are you referring to the TWU.

To me the only term limit should be the ballott box. Not allowing someone to run who would have popular support is un-Democratic.

The Term limit concept comes from the Republican ideology, the idea is to make sure that working people could never go into politics, after a few years they would have to find another job, this is great for Big Business because every politician would spend the last few years of their terms looking to set themselves up with a job, who can do that for them? Big Business! Bingo! They dont have to look out for the people who elected them, they have to set themselves up for when they are out. It doesnt matter if they do a good job for the people , they are out, but if they barter off political favors to Big Business they can count on some payback.

If you have term limits it just makes things better for whoever would be able to offer something better, as long as they cooperate, after the term. Now in the union we have our jobs to come back to but how often do we see guys jump into management right after they are voted out? Term limits only help get rid of bad representatives but also get rid of good ones. Lets face it, nobody is trained to be a union rep, you learn it as you go, so just when someone may be getting good they get pushed out even if the guys are happy with the job they are doing and you get someone else starting brand new again.

I say instead of term limits Unions should have Recall and a requirement that all paid officials sign a no-compete clause(officers through shop stewards) that they will not go into management at AMR for a five year period , if they do they should have to forfiet all wages and reimburse the Union for any training they recieved.

We put Recall into our Bylaws, and one of these days we will get around to a no-compete clause. With recall and regular elections the members set the term limits.

Try again conehead. I voted no but seeing that you are at Defer To Fort Worth, you are probably a yes vote.

I love this, AMP drive is less than 2 weeks old and we already have AMP guys. Tell me what is a AMP guy? How about we call them what they are ANTI TWU guys they have sought change and I have been denied the right to vote by the TWU, AA, NMB and people who refuse to sign a card and put it to a vote. Yea maybe these guys are sick of excuses, sign a card put it to a vote then we will know who is the rightful rep of the members.

Tell me reb why would anyone be against putting to a vote surely you would not want to keep the TWU as our union if the majority wants change talk about undemocratic.

Not one person I have talked to even knows who AMP is. You could be college kids sitting in your bedroom for all I know. At least AMFA had informational meetings so we could talk to the people in charge. I am not going to sign my career away to someone who might be a high school drop out. Those are the people we have now negotiating our contracts.

If your station needs cards, please go to the website and request them. Thanks
