This may be an Independent, but it seems that it follows amfa's guideline and that maybe be where the confusion is coming from.
So should we listen to the TWU and James C. Little bad mouth the movement? What has HE done for you lately?
I can see the benefit of:
Professional Negotiators
Recall of Officers
Term Limits of Officers
Membership Elected National Officers
Majority Rules Run-Off Officer Elections
If I was James C. Little and an appointed leader that has a Constitution that allows me to manipulate my leader partners via appointments, and regardless of my performance or ability the membership could never vote me out, I would be against AMFA, AMP, APA, APFA or any Union that provides for accountablilty.
But what would best for your future and your profession?
I would actually like to attend a Union Meeting before I retire where what the membership says actually means something again. I am tired of dictators that didnt even have a majority of votes in the election speaking on my behalf and deciding without membership involvement what is best for our future.
Just look at the TWU's response...
James Little bad mouthing the movement and trying to link it to AMFA
Sam Cirri directing Shop Stewards to remove and destroy any AMP information they can find.
Why do you think they cannot just come out and say "We have a done a great job for our members in exhange for 2 hours pay per month, We have a strong unified Union, We have accountability, and there is no need to change unions"?
No their only reponse is that change would suck worse than they do. This would be a laughable reponse if it were'nt our livelyhoods in the balance.
Of course AMP "follows AMFA guidelines". It is called Union Democracy and Membership Rule. Unless you just insist in attempting to demonize union democracy one could easily claim that AMP follows APA or APFA or ALPA guidelines. Don't you find it strange that the TWU guidelines are in direct conflict with basic principles of Union Democracy and Leadership Accountabilty?
I would much rather have hired negotiators, lawyers, and economist and trade in the Talons Tickets, Big Splash Party, Laborfest Party, Ice Oiler Tickets, and other such dues wasting. I pay for representation which I feel I am not getting. And if my representation was good, I could afford my own tickets to the games and parties.
I don't need a union to entertain me, I need a Union to represent me.
