Do we have to go over this again?

First of all, they have purchased SOME new equipment and have made it clear that more is on the way. How does bad weather show "how bad all the management is at handling the problems"? And saying "all management" allows others to say "all airport personel" or "all FAs" are bad and we know that isn't true.

And if management is hiring trash, what does that say about you?

We can't even get folks to fill the positions. Air Tran pays more, even offers 6 raises in the first 3 years...

What do they..and can they expect. Absolutely nothing.

I would like to thank the Al Twins.

They sure aren't getting the creme of the crop in CLT.

You have to wonder if they are trying to hire people and cant get the positions filled, why arent they just taking the people they have already and making more full time to cover the extra hours needed? The people already on the payroll have the knowledge and interest in the company vs someone walking in off the street. I realize the pay is likely going to be more and the benefits will be a little higher than they are paying out for part timers, but if you take 2 part timers vs 1 full timer who is already doing the job, (no background checks, tests, training, learning curve, etc) isnt it going to pay off in the end since you'll technically be paying 1 ft benefit vs 2 pt? Especially when the other option is paying out overtime or working short handed and dealing (AGAIN) with the problems resulting from a lack of staffing and related issues?

On the PHX ramp, they are hiring people that can't even pass the test for a SIDA badge. If you have a pulse and can pass a background check and the pee test, you have the job.

I wish I was kidding.

Take heart; here at NW, we can't even find canidates to get that far....

tadjr. I myself wonder over & over if they are trying to hire & can't get anyone. I can't get a strait answer. I just know the ones that come thru must be rejects from somewhere. It really is bad & as barbee said in another post I wish I was kidding.

equip. on it's way??? Lesse, how big of bonuses can fly out the door so quickly, but equip takes 8 months or more to show up???? I'm sure mgmt. could have gone down to IAD for an auction a few months ago and at least picked up a power cart or air cart or two on the cheap. Meanwhile, I have to wait 1.5 hours on the ramp in phl, because I have a broken apu, and no power cart. Can't load pax, and nothing is done. SOS....

sorry there was a power cart. 1 power unit for the whole express side of the operation in phl???? Please....

On a light-hearted note: In a recent class for ramp new-hires, when everyone introduced themselves and explained why they wanted to work at US Airways, a young man said that he wanted to work here because of our shiny airplanes.

Yeah. 😛

Hmmm .so bad weather is managment's fault??? You should give examples to support your argument . .

rjh,

I'll take a hack at that.

A competent team of agents can adapt to a severve weather challenge, and move the operation forward.

Me and my guys did so countless times - some of the 'good letters' I received were during such adverse conditions.

A bunch of underpaid newbies can't, and never will.

Management wants to pay Wendy wages, but an airline ain't Wendy's.

Sure, you can hire folks at a low wage to work for an airline.

Performance? Not so much.

All managagement is doing is creating a short-term profit, at the expense of operational viability. They'll leave the stockholders and employees holding the bag.

Again.

The Burger King in my town pays more to start than U does. They even give a $100 bonus if you stay 3 months. The worst that can happen to you is maybe a little burn or cut, not get run over or sucked up in an engine. It's a shame that the amount of responsibility is not taken into consideration by airline managements when it comes to compensation. Oh wait, they do take it into consideration....for themselves!
