I'm curious what everyone is looking for in the new contact.

Please exclude discussions on the NIC. This is to throw out ideas that are important to you.

I'm a quality of life guy, will take improvements in those any day of the week.

I fly 72-75 hours a month ..

I also don't forget the days of RSV and think the company's ability to transition R to S has to change.

If they transition it MUST cost them, maybe 2 hours on top of the guarantee to do so.

and limit the number of times they can do it.

It's the company that closed the basis and created this mess.

what's your hot spot?

Generally reserves are crapped on around here in negotiations. The reserve system has been here to serve the block holders...not to ensure the schedule as it is at most airlines. However, I and most F/Os have been on reserve for the majority of our 20+ years at LCC (albeit some of those by choice, hate to commute). Thus, I think the reserve issue might actually get some attention this time around since we are actually involved in negotiations this time.

In addition to pay, vacation, duty rigs, deadhead why should the reserve guarantee not rise on months that the company raises the pay cap? Reserve needs to be looked at very closely this time around, since it is a way of life for many at LCC.

I agree that the reserve system needs some real improvement. But, the scary thing is that each time in the past that things were "tweaked," it only got worse. The entire philosophy and structure needs to be demolished completely and an entirely new system built from the ground up. This time, don't even worry about throwing the baby out with the bath water....the "baby" in this case has been dead for many years and is truly beginning to stink!

Here's a thought on POTA, though. Since POTA is supposed to be the rare exception used only to keep the airline running, then there should be real consequences for the mismanagement that caused the POTA in the first place. Anytime a pilot accepts a POTA call (there would still be no obligation to do so,) then the first 10 days of the following month is free of all duty and missed trips (even those just touched) will be paid in full. Put THAT in the contract and there would never be another POTA call....ever.

Seriously, take a look at the AWA contract. Add industry standard pay and we'll have a good contract.

You are forgetting about Scope. For all intents you have none. Seriously.

But your seniority list is perfect. Straight DOH. That will be preserved going forward.

Industry Standard Pay is a must.

If we are going to have a two class Reserve System, then the Long Call Reserve needs to be changed to 18 to 24 hours prior to departure to actually enable those on reserve to comfortably sit out of base and have better odds commuting in to cover a trip, barring any conflict with the New Rules when they get finalized. 9 hour call out is ridiculous and needs to be changed. Even a 3 Class Reserve System would work nicely, 85 hour guarantee for Quick Call, 76 hours for 6 to 18 hour call out and 72 hours for beyond 18 hours. Just random numbers for discussion purposes. But a system like this could eliminate transitioning folks, which is a pain for those who commute.

Rotating reserve would be nice too where everyone stands a month of reserve once a year, then holding a block the other 11 months of the year. This will never happen and if it did, we would all have to be honest and play by the rules, i.e. not sick out for the month.

The AWA contract has industry leading reserve section, the east doesn't care.

Rather than just point fingers, why don't you enlighten us? I guess being constructive would be against your nature. We can read the west contract all day long, but unless someone actually enlightens us about how it ACTUALLY works, we won't know.

For example:
How are trips awarded to reserves?
Is it a short/long call system? Is there a pay difference?
what are the penalties to the company if they assign reserves trips on days off?
What are the rules for commuting on reserve?
How are pay guarantees affected by flying on holidays or days off?

The only thing I've ever heard about the West reserve system is that you have to check with scheduling at the end of your trip to see if they want to use you more that day. The East guys typically CANNOT be used more that day, and don't need to check with anyone. Even that detail could be in error, as no one has ever offered to clear up any misconceptions.

Nothing like a little flame bait to keep the pot stirred, huh Ace? Why can't we have a civilized discussion without this crap being thrown in?

Driver <_<

If you can read you can figure it out for yourself. Why all this dependence on other people "enlightening" you guys all the time. No wonder you're so ignorant.

Wow that hurts! Word up! at least we know what ripeness is! MM!

Without Scope and Seniority, nothing else matters. Nothing. How is that flame bait? I saw the title of this thread as New Pilot Contract. Does that limit my discussion and debate to only the sections you deem "not crap?"

Your "UNION" is the one that is responsible for educating you, if they could ever tell the truth.
