NMB Speaks: We Have an Election! ALPA/USAPA Topic for 2/19-26

Son;
Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through a aviation career (sorry, I couldn't resist the chance to quote part of Animal House!). We were and remain intellectual. We argued in front of a federal mediator/ arbitrator about our seniority issues. The binding arbitration is the end result of the complete failure by at least one party to negotiate a combined list.

We've had this discussion before, ad infinitum.....non-issue, POPS! NMB doesn't apply under ALPA Merger policy.

Now we are threatened with new union representation (but the binding decision remains). I will do everything in my power to get EVERY America West pilot to vote.

We know that. Binding is yet to be seen.

On top of that I will do everything in my power to convince the AAA pilots that ALPA is the quickest means to a new contract and merger protection with another ALPA carrier.

Good luck with that. If ALPA merger policy is the protection you refer....I vote USAPA, thank you.

Does the power include a gun to our heads? Or the power of "WHO DO"?

I know each and every one of our pilots are emotionally charged by this decision. I simply ask that you do the following before you vote:
1. Read the ALPA Merger policy entirely.
2. Read the AWA/ AAA merger transcripts.
3. Read the Nicolau Award.
4. Review the track record of the USAPA counsel, and be sure that they can deliver everything that they promise.
5. Be sure USAPA can deliver EVERYTHING (not just say they can) that they promise.

You forgot #3.5....give our Length of Service to AWA pilots.

I don't think so. Not happening.

If you have done all five tasks and find ALPA Merger policy has been followed, then your decision must be to keep ALPA on property. If you vote for USAPA, you will likely not see a new contract for YEARS and you will encounter litigation that will make the NW/Republic merger pale by comparison.

Don't pay dues, loose your job. You'll find out. Litigation....where have we heard that before?

Good luck to us all.

You'll need that.

My prediction:

USAPA wins, but not overwhelmingly. New contract takes up to 4 years. East pilots operate under LOA 93 while West keeps their higher pay/vacation in tact.

Nicolau stands after years of legal wrangling, USAPA unable to force DOH seniority list integration.

Just my opinion.

Tell your ceo doug parker that, it sounds like something that he needs to hear.

It might be a slight exaggeration but it's no lie. A DOH integration would've stapled 2/3 of the AWA list. You did want that, didn't you?

Time and time again we've had to read reporters saying the Nicolau Award is viewed as unfair. Of course, that's the East point of view. They never bothered to ask the West and we took the high-road by not volunteering it. It's nice to finally see some PR that's closer to reality than the East falsehoods.

I hope every pilot eligible to vote will take advantage of the opportunity. As long as ALPA=NIC you're wasting your breath and energy. So the quickest means to a new contract is a vote by the majority of pilots. Good, bad or ugly. Take your pick. You will never have one negotiated by ALPA that includes Nicolau as is. The only problem is under ALPA there can not be any changes to Nic. See the problem?

1. I did. I found out it's really not a policy, only "guidelines".
2. I did. Your point?
3. I did. Makes no sense to me. But thats me. Where were those guidelines again? Thats right, they don't apply to arbitrators.
So what's the point of policy?
4. Great record from my perspective. Even Johnny Mac and Prater thought so too.
5. The promises are better and than ALPA's position.

I ask once again, what policy? They are only "Guidelines". Just remember the majority. Participation determines how good or bad of a contract we get.

Stick it to them East pilots , these junior West pilots are pricks.Seniority rules , unless your one of Parker's boys.Divide and conquer !

Finally, the end is in sight: (that's a possible double entendre)

The National Mediation Board (NMB) today authorized an election to take place March 20 through April 17. The Notice and Sample Instructions will be sent out on March 13. The Voting Instructions will be mailed on March 20, with the balloting period from 12:01 a.m. ET, March 20 through April 17. The vote tally will take place at 2:00 p.m. ET on April 17, at the NMB’s office in Washington, D.C.

In happier news, I got my tax refund direct-deposited today.
And there's an almost full lunar eclipse in the eastern sky going on RIGHT NOW.

Should it come to that, we only learn from the best (by example) ...Skippy. Be assured that I will pay when I absolutely must and the least amount according to what I am able to pay. It will be along the lines of USAPA's ability to protect and defend my job....only when they are forced to. I will do everything to confound your grab for what does not belong to you. Enjoy your LOA 93 wages...you will be there for a LONG TIME. Me? Sometimes I complain...life's been good to me so far........(guitar riff here)

IF ALPA stays, it will only take a certain amount of money from Parker before the senior pilots look in their checkbook and shrug...OK.

This eastie f/o endeavor will last a few more months before they are turned on their head. The law is the law. ALPA is the reason they have gotten away with what they have these past ten months. They are about to vote their biggest effector off the property- let the street fight begin...

F/O endeavor? 3200+ cards tells me it's "Just" a little bit more than that. What I find very interesting is your constant state of denial. After the election you can either join or not, your participation is wanted, not required. Think about it.

With all due respect, I think you are stroking us on that one. Sure, you'll welcome our participation when the numbers render us irrelevant anyway. You guys are always so magnanimous when you feel you've got us where you want us, so to speak.

How did you do that with the twice goofed up W-2?

The Nic award will be there in its full glory after all this BS goes down and the union change may actually accelerate the arrival of it.
