No more mainline to PVD

Hey TWU Informer, did FM answer your question about what his/her job is or do I just not understand enough about AA's ops to to see the answer. FM feel free to respond to this post as well. I'm curious. It can be interesting to see Union/Mgnt dynamics.

Not even close, although I'm sure someone probably is paid to monitor this and some of the other boards like FlyerTalk and TM.
Thanks for your interest in my job -- it has changed a couple times since then, but even then, that wasn't part of my job, despite the fact that CorpComm and Legal had approved my after-hours work with PlaneBusiness.

And yes, this is done on my own time and on my own wi-fi laptops. So you can give up the idea of complaining about misuse of company time and material. It didn't work for you last time, and it won't work this time.

Actually, I saw a job posting a few months ago on jetnet, and Eric E was the hiring manager.

I'm "light years" AWAY from anything having to do with AA Management. As far as Former ModerAAtor goes, (IMHO) he's done a real good job bring factual Info to this, and the PlaneBusiness boards !!

I'm not going to deny that I got a little "chuckle" on his PVD misinformation !

As the song goes, "Seems like Old Times..." from the PlaneBusiness BB with the posts of the FM and AMFA Dxxx. Even the now retired, but still ++++VOCIFEROUS++++, NHBB remembers those days.

But I do miss the opinionated and always controversial TWAFA007. He posted here under that name a few times even after he went to work at B6. Anyone know if he still posts, and under what name? If so, send me PM.

However I don't miss avek00. Thankfully here at USAv he seems to have limited himself to the USAir forum.

Here's hoping that US commercial aviation has a better year in 2006 - and that all who earn their living from it regain what has been lost - as well as those of us who must use it to earn a living!

Best Wishes to All.

If I remember my airline history correctly, American was the very first airline to provide commercial air service to Theodore Francis Green State Airport, on or about 1932??

AA abandoned PVD once before with the onset of deregulation in 1979, but returned again in 1983/84. And now, 20 some odd years later, history is repeating itself, albeit a different set of circumstances. Whatever the reason, I think it's a poor decision on AA's behalf, as they really never had a VISION or took advantage of potential opportunities in PVD....oh well...the cycle continues.

Actually, AA didn't come back until at least 1985. I went to school in PVD from 1980-1984 and AA did not serve PVD at that time. As for vision, AA kept a ticket office in PVD during those years, even though they didn't even serve PVD. They also referred to PVD in their paper timetables (served via Boston). I remember the Providence Journal asking AA when they would come back. The response was "when we can profitably serve TF Green".

Just wondering...at least with the DFW-PVD route, the day it was announced the route would be discontinued, the route was removed from Sabre. Just looked at the ORD-PVD route and they are still selling AA mainline from April onward. When will the route be removed from Sabre?

I wasn't aware that AA discontinued the nonstop PVD-DFW.... do they plan to?

It was part of the Love Field expansion (supposedly) 🙄

Along with Lima Peru, Long Beach, and a couple of Eagle routes.

Not true! The DFW airport press release mistakenly confounded the two moves. The AA press release had it correct -- Love Field expansion separate from the pulldown at several airport. Apparently, DFW airport is more steamed about Love Field than AA.

What is the 2255 rule? Does it have to do with the number of seats in and out daily? just wondering........

No more mainline to Houston Hobby either after 3Apr06. AUS-HOU-LGA is gone.
