Non-Rev Boarding priority poll

I think that check in via computer 12 hours prior to departure is a good tool. However, to make it a level field for everyone, I think it should be "first come, first serve." If getting on a flight means so much to someone, then they will make the effort to get checked in and get to the gate. I realize senority drives everything in our workgroup, but this way, even our junior peers will have a chance to enjoy a non-rev trip once in a while. It should not be all about "this is my right, I have senority, I have paid my dues." We all have paid our dues in one way or another and our junior flight attendants, especially reserves, pay their dues every day by the mistreatment they get from scheduling. JMOHO 🙂

Hp always earned up to 40 flexis per years and we could use 3 to bump us up to SA1P(vacation listing). If we wanted to we could have been SA1P 13 times(if we had perfect attendance and were full time.) So now we only have the option of 2x a year. Hp employees lost on this big time. 12 hour checkin time would help but DOH is a loss for HP employees.

If you HAD seniority and retired you have no vote.
Bottom of the list. Thank you for all your years of service 'NOW GO AWAY'

Easy skippy!! This person said if they HAD senority, they knew how they would vote...MEANING.... SENORITY!!!! Why are you picking a fight on someone who was simply stating that it IS a ME issue.

GEEZ!! No wonder so many Westies think we Easties are insane. READ before you open your trap!!  :censored:

LCC, us westies dont think you are insane! We know that this is an emotional issue for many and that you have all suffered in the past with poor managment and many pay cuts. We are hoping that Doug can pull us all together and again I hope they make this decison sooner than later so we can continue to discuss other issues that would make us a stronger, more profitable company.

I agree with phx mama, but the intergrated list would never work at the gate too complicated. First come first serve will have to do.

OK, All's forgiven. Now let's have a cocktail.

Well then how do you explain AA's system. I commute on them alot and I'm pretty sure they use first come first serve. Well at least for OAL employees anyway. Whatever happens I hope they go towards the HP rules for the FA jumpseat, we used to have it like that at East until the old goats wanted it changed.

you are correct, aa is first come first serve and dependant on boarding classification.

"There are various pass classifications that you're allowed to use for personal pass travel on American Airlines and American Eagle. Boarding priority, or who boards the aircraft first, is determined by a combination of boarding priority and the time you check-in for your flight."

obviously aa is a lot larger company than lcc and i havent heard of any serious problems with our system. not sure where our system ranks against others but i doubt lcc would have any serious issues implementing something similar.

I recieved the following email this morning from US Airways daily emails. Sounds like this survey is a waste of time.

This morning, the email wires were buzzing as a rogue survey made its way around offices and airports alike; asking employees to vote on first-come, first-served boarding vs. seniority.

That survey is not company-sponsored. We want to be very clear that it isn't our survey and it's not official. Heck, it doesn't even have our logo on it. More importantly, it won't have any bearing on the final boarding policy.

Let's step back for a minute and clarify this issue so that we're all on the same page.

First, there's no vote. Yes, we're taking feedback, but this isn't an issue that will be decided by a popular vote.

What we do want from every employee is constructive, useful, thoughtful feedback that will better inform our leadership team when it's time to go one way or the other on boarding at the end of this year. To help better define what we're asking for, here are some good examples of feedback:

"I've traveled on both systems now and I prefer first-come, first-served because it's just not right for a senior person to swoop in at the last minute and take a seat from someone who planned ahead and arrived early. FC/FS is fair to all employees - it puts us on a level playing field."

"Seniority should prevail for boarding, especially for commuters. It's the only way we can plan. I've worked for airlines that have boarded using both methods and, as a commuter; we just can't always arrive at the gate (especially on connecting flights) with hours to spare. We'll never be able to get to work."

"I've seen some injustices at the gate among non-revs, so I have a suggestion - even though I don't know if it's even possible. Let's do seniority up to one hour prior to departure, then first-come, first-served after that."

Take some time to try both boarding systems. And relax; you've got all year to try both methods. After you've tried both, send your feedback to row23middle@usairways.com. We want your feedback, not your vote.

I've been reading the debate on this issue for a while and the term "equal playing field" keeps coming up. As an employee with 3 years with HP/US compare to 18 years with TWA, I am overwhelmingly on the Seniority side. It is not an "equal playing field". The Men and Women who stuck with this company and been there through thick and thin, instead of jumping ship at a moment's notice, deserve the respect and the privledge to board ahead. AT TWA, I was once stuck in SFO for 13 hours because I didn't have the seniorty to get on a flight. It sucked, but I wouldn't want it any other way because I know, that once I put in my time and dedication, I would get that privledge also.

In order to bridge the gap between the 2 opinions, I sent in a suggestion where there would be 3 tiers of employees. 0-5 years, 5-15 years and 15 years and above. Within each tier, it would be a first come/first serve check-in. I think this would address both concerns.

I was going to suggest that first come first serve for international flights and Hawaii since flight are limited and the next flight is the next day.

but senority for domestic flights since your alternatives are better if worse come to worse we can use greyhound or southwest

row23middle@usairways.com ,let them know how you feel.I would like to see DOH myself.

In light of recent information posted above (I read the same this morning as well), and my ignorance on how to edit the original post, I would like to ask the moderator to remove this entire thread. Passing around more junk mail was NOT my intention. I was easily fooled!
