Members of Congress are not my bench mark for intelligence. Congress, in terms of the US legislature had only one meaning so far as I am aware.
its the national legislature, there are 50 state legislatures, and considerably more local legislatures, this is part of the problem.
I understand and agree with y our point regarding the electoral college but I think you are splitting hairs. The fact that we are voting via a proxy does not negate the fact that we are 'voting' for a person to serve as WH.
we are not splitting hairs, we should intelligently describe it as what it is. we are guaranteed a republican form of government, and is why we elect president the way we do, this is why our government is the way it is, if we pretend it doesnt exist, or explain it as something else, we do everyone a disservice.
If we know whats going on we should describe it as such, instead of because its "easier to explain" we will describe it like something else. Thats why Americans do not understand the national legislature, our presidency and why more and more of our rights are consumed, by bureaucrats from both parties. We should never dumb down our Republic, and we should never dumb down our laws. the American people are smart enough if given the chance to understand our laws and our procedures. dumbing it down to control them is ridiculous
Never said I thought it was right. During times of war, the rules tend to get bent if not out right broken. The Japanese prisons (let's call them what they were) is one example.
im sorry you didnt say it was right you have no problem even 70 years later making excuses for an obvious wrong by our government. but hey its ok it was war time things happen... wow..
Patriot act would be another. Liberals are not the only ones who 'believed' in them. The Republicans are the ones who started the act and Bush signed it into law. Obama went ahead and extended it. I think it's BS all the way around.
your history on the patriot act is a lil revised.. it was not started by republicans lol where do you get this stuff?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Patriot_Act
read what really happened... see the democrats involved in the evolution of what became the usapatriot act.
that said there was a reason why there were sunsets in the original bill, they should have been observed. instead both parties made it a matter of being anti security if we even thought about sunsetting this monstrocity of a law... and i will stand against it i did then, i do now... you cant protect the rights of people by stepping and removing them. you cant protect free people by making them not free... you throw republicans in my face as if i am one.. im not but its interesting how you will ignore democrats actions both in 1942 and also 2001.. even though you say you are not one...
you either love freedom and against all those who would trample on rights of others wartime or not... or you want to play politics and will try to use that as an excuse. i dont play the politics game other than pointing out the hypocrisy of those who do... and your dripping in it im sorry...
I don't and if you want to continue in a civil manner I'm all for it. I don't do well with snarky or condescending which is why I don't converse with East all that much any more. Gets tiring.
lol pot meet kettle its funny i have to take your snarky comments and i dont know how you know im being condescending when you cant hear my tone.. you bring that to your own arguments i cant help how you think my tone is when you read it in your mind.
