Obama Strikes again

Point of order... the TDI's hold their value better. We made money selling ours a few years ago. Can't say that about too many gassers. And reliability? Not a problem once, aside from a nail in a tire once. And you can't blame VW for that.

They still cost more. Often more than people are willing to spend. You can blame VW for consistently being near the bottom when it comes to reliability.

If you do a cost calculation and include selling the TDI used then the economics get very different when one goes to cost justify the purchase.

In a brief and unscientific search of comparable cars and the Jetta TDI, the Jetta holds nearly ALL of it's purchase premium at the 3 year mark.

Did you do a cost/benefit analysis on how many times it will be in the shop?

In order for there to be used cars someone at some point has to buy one new. They still need to get the price down on them if they want to see increased sales.

It would appear that VW does not have an issue selling their cars. While reliability may be an issue, demand seems to be exceeding supply which is keeping the prices for both new and used quite high.
The Passat TDI, which is made at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant, is selling at double the anticipated rate, said Carsten Krebs, VW Group of America's corporate communications director.
Demand for Volkswagen's diesel Passat outpaces supply

Well honestly no! Reason being is that in my experience having owned one for 5 years and having NEVER had a Break/Fix appointment I have to basis to even begin. The Consumer Reports reliability surveys use a to small and unscientific sample to provide meaningful data.

Cradle to Grave health care of teachers, unions, and illegal immigrants is all fine and dandy when you're the Back Bench junior Senator from IL posing as President. But when it comes to the troops, the Empty Suit can't wait to cut.

A proposal by the Obama administration would save $12.9 Billion by 2017 from the Tricare system.

The proposed increases in health care payments by service members, which must be approved by Congress, are part of the Pentagon’s $487 billion cut in spending. It seeks to save $1.8 billion from the Tricare medical system in the fiscal 2013 budget, and $12.9 billion by 2017.

Just another tidbit from The Empty Suit and you wonder why the overwhelming number of active military donate to Ron Paul.

It puzzles me that when Mr "Evil Incarnate" Bush was in the White House every 10th of cent rise in the price at the pump was his doing. NOW with the Empty Suit it's "Market Forces"/

OK then class which is it? One must be consistent.
It is only the narrowminded and ignorant that constantly blame WHOEVER is the president for something they don't control only because it isn't who they voted for. What a pleasure they must be to live with.

Senator Tom Conurn proposes cuts to Tri-Care. (July 2011)

You should do more research. This was proposed by Gates prior to this.

Also by McCain:

Targeting Tricare Prime retirees — Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has advised the super committee to consider ending access to Tricare Prime, the military’s popular managed care option, for working-age retirees and their families, to avoid spending cuts that would directly impact readiness.

Who passes legislation in the US?
Stop that. Our resident constitutional scholar's head will explode.

Also, who controls the purse strings. This is a result of the failure of the so-called Super Committee that was forced upon Congress by the debt ceiling fiasco started by the tea party rookies.

Pssst! Be a jackass tomorrow OK? I've dealt with to many today.

Stevie Wonder could see who controls the purse strings and who passes legislation under the COTUS. Sadly to those in DC the COTUS is "An Inconvenient Truth" that is worked around on a minute by minute basis. Barack Obama and his group of stooges, aka the Republicrats in Congress with this legislation has insulted every veteran of every war ever fought.

Oh it's fine and dandy to send them off to far and distant lands without a declaration of war to do the bidding of Wall Street & the Military Industrial Complex. But God forbid that we have to pay to take care of them when they come home fractured & broken both physically and mentally.

Save the drama. Have you even read what the cuts would mean to the military members (of which my Dad is...retired 25 year Navy Vietnam carrier pilot)? Sorry, I have no Omaha Beach story.

My understanding is that the bill only deal with retirees not soldiers wounded in the line of duty.
