What's new

Out for bid AVL, TYS, GSP, SAV, BHM and MHT

Like most other airlines that have others handle their "ground" operations for them, there are sure to be some sort of confidentiality agreements. These agreement probably do not trickle don't to the peon's, but the managers surely are aware of these. Any misuse of information by Comair or DL would end up in the courts with some sort of monetary penalty. All one has to do is look at Hawaiian and Mesa and the big bucks Mesa has to pay. I don't think DL would be that stupid.
What kind of information could Comair potentially gain by looking at their system? I asked a Pinnacle employee this past weekend why NWA mainline doesn't allow for Pinnacle to use RADAR for 9E employees to check flight loads, list for flights, etc; as a non-rev. The answer she gave was something like this " NW doesn't want Pinnacle to have access to their information......." hmm..so does this mean that for those who work the gates are privy to this info? What am I missing here? One can check seat availability thru SeatGuru or the airline's website itself.

For those that are interested, it appears now that Pinnacle (NW Airlink) will be taking the ground/ticket counter work from ExpressJet @ TYS beginning in September..things should be interesting, as the proposed merger between DL and NW should be taking a bigger shape by then, wondering where 9E will fit in the picture, not to mention Comair!

Thanks for the info! Any idea if Pinnacle will also take over in AVL? Thanks!

I also am curious about CO Express in Asheville. All the best to the agents at TYS, that is a nice operation you have in Knoxville.

I don't know about AVL. If anyone here knows Jan H. @ TYS, she is a very nice woman. Don't know what's going to happen to her during this. Rumor has it that most XJET employees will go over to 9E but of course they will be starting all over again. Several 9E folks aren't happy about taking this additional work load but oh well...so it is in the airline biz....

we heard from the grape vine rumor mill that ExpressJet may put ABE up for bid but there is no word officially

What a crazy and scary time for everyone. Does anyone know who will be ground handling/customer service for CO Express in Asheville? Sorry to hear about you folks in Chattanooga, good luck to everyone there and throughout the system.

Nite Ice/Mrs. Doubtfire,

Got this straight from the (EXJ)MHT counter, 5 days ago, in MHT(Manchester NH.)

MHT has NOT been "farmed out", due to the fact that Express jet has temporarily HALTED the outsourcing, as it "goes back to the drawing board" to assess where they stand as a company, now that theve reached an agreement(of sorts) with CO.

Thats the Good news.

The Not-so-good news is that the bosses at EXJ, ultimately want to "farm out" EVERY station.

At MHT, EXJ has approximately 8-10 trips a day from MHT(all EMB RJ's) going to EWR and a few to CLE.

A personal Friend(the GM at UA/MHT), has told the EXJ station MGR(MHT) that he's(UA) is very interested in taking their work on.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. So, what about the other stations that were already 'awarded' the XJT ground work? I know for a fact 9E at TYS is trying to recruit more empolyees just to cover the (once) anticipated ground work from XJT that was supposed to have begun September......
