What's new

P.A. announcement error

well, i dont do it any more but when we still had separate opp certs i would say "welcome to the new us air" when we were on time and all was well and "thanks for flying america west" when we were really late so that the dimmer pax (most all of them) who said "i'm never gonna fly on you guy's again" wouldn't be able to keep straight who they were mad at.
P.S. to the poster who said no one would want a tuna burrito. you are prob right, but if you ever fly in to puerta v. call ahead and have the station mang get you some smoked marlin burritos they are fantastic.

? How does this relate to my comment? Some of our older pilots on the East are still pretty fun. I don't get it....

Absolutely we can, and from my own personal observations I have noticed a better rapport between East and West crews over the past several months. If one person could only take the time to get to know the others they would find out that we have more in common than we have in differences. Much more, actually.

I am sorry to hear that anyone would be treated as beachboy has mentioned. I non-reved on West metal last year with my husband and we were treated better by the West than we were the East.
This is was my husband's observation and words.
Unfortunately I had to agree, and I am East, so needless to say I was embarrassed for the East crews manners.
I keep that trip in mind so whether East or West, you will get the best service from me on every flight, every time.

We are Family.....I got all my sisters with me.......

I'm with you, sister. I'm a "Westie," obviously. I had an East CA and his wife, a former US flt. attd. in F/C. They both praised me for the service and hospitality. I've also worked SAN-PHL and SFO-PHL and had commuters. I love talking to the East FA's because you all have stories about flying in the "good ol' days," probably before I was even thought of. I had an ex-PSA gal who has been with PSA/US for 39 years, and another guy for 30. I've never mistreated another FA, East or West. I have only had ONE situation where an East FA told me (when I was flying solo, DH'ing to PHX from LAS) that I couldn't take the same van with her crew from the hotel to the airport. She was the only one, pilots and fellow crewmembers included, that didn't say a word to me on the way to the airport. I think this CRAP is very rare.

I wouldn't have taken that flack but...it's nice to see someone here who has respect for everyone 🙂

Travelpro. I'm sorry you've had such bad luck w/the folks you've run into.
I myself have not had one single negative experience with any former "Easties", tho have had numerous positive ones.
I also have never witnessed any rude behavior by any "Westies" toward the same.

Of course I have heard "tales" like those of the jumpseat FA who had an alleged unfortunate exchange w/a FO.

As already mentioned, FA cabin jumpseat requests do not go thru the FD, and certainly a FO is totally out of the loop.
I can think of no FO that would even harbor hostility towards a FA.
Just not on their radar.
I take that story w/a grain of salt.

The motivation for my previous post about the origin of my paychecks may have misconstrued.
I meant only to refute the poster who claimed America West no longer existed.

Please don't tell Wells Fargo, they still cash the checks.

We are drilled from day one on the East that yes, cabin jumpseats do go through the pilots. We board early, hand the slip to the A or CSD and are briefed by the pilots when we go up to the flightdeck to introduce ourselves. I always ask permission I don't jump on and say I am TAKING A JUMPSEAT. So, they are in the loop since you become part of the crew.
Many times I have approached the pilots and crew in the boarding area so I don't interrupt checklists and boarding. Also because I have been left before out of a few stations, so I let them know I am here waiting on the jumpseat.
Yes there are tales and there are facts. I have had some great crews out West and then I have had one refuse to speak to me in LAX waiting for the van. I take that with a grain of salt as well.
