I think it's a little unfair to everyone when you make sweeping generalizations about the "westies". Very, very few line employees are drinking the "parker kook-aide". I also think it's a bit unfair to call those flight attendants that were following company policy by not going past overwing "morons". Inflight management (in the west) has done a good job of supervising via intimidation hence the fear of discipline for not following the manual. Trust me, we are as disgusted with management as you are that is for sure. Last I checked, Parker wasn't clearing any of his management decisions with anyone flying the line or working the counters and gates here in the west and certainly not in the east. Don't assume we agree with him or support him just because we've worked under him longer. Parker will do what Parker wants and damn the rest of us. I keep reminding people that Parker mentored under Franke. Clearly, Dougie learned all to well from Franke how to be a coporate snake. He is also becoming quite the master at playing two sides against each other. Imagine how formidable an opponent labor would be if both sides, east and west, could get together and establish some solidarity. I realize that may be asking alot, but one can always hope.....

our profits have NOTHING to do with parker's management. NOTHING!!
they have EVERYTHING to do with the east. and our give backs...

I find this "WAY OUT OF LINE". As a WEST employee. I have worked under Parker and alot of my friends have worked under Frankie... Just because I and others are employees on the "WEST" side... We dont drink the "Parker Kool-Aid and another thing we are not Morons!!! We do the same freeking job its an attitude like this that keeps us divided. I for one and many, many others on the west are sick and tired, just sick and tired of our mgt. team. They treat our passengers and employees "that's YOU and ME" the same way with tons of disrespect. Just because I may have "followed" a procedure for a very long time does not make me a moron. It actually made me smart by keeping out of our In-Flight's Mgt's target/scope. I follow the rules as much as I can and keep of the radar. I'm sorry if you feel that that makes "US" west employees Morons... And if you would get "YOUR" facts straight.......Then you would know that as of March 16 we are "allowed" to go past the overwing!!! Just a little FYI :shock: Next time you think that we are Morons... Just remember we have the same duties as you have and we freeking get paid less... You need to grip more to MGT than about "YOUR co-Workers" :blink:

conceded. my generalization was irresponsible. i apologize. the appropriate targets of my disdain are doug, travis, and scott.
it was suggested from the conception of this merger that "cultural" barriers would be the most significant. and, indeed, they are. this is where sociologists and mba's would do well to open some dialogue.
i will speak for myself (avoiding any additional irresponsible generalizations) when i say that watching a once proud airline being dismantled is frustrating. enormously frustrating.
i genuinely believe a management team whose love of financial success is commensurate with their love of aviation would make this merger a profound and lasting success!
again, i apologize for my generalization.
 
The thing that kills me is when I hear how great a job Parker has done and how glad they are that he is here. I'd say it's safe to bet that most of the profit made here on the east were made due to no brainy ideas he or his upper management team implemented. We all had our work lives turned upside down through two BK's. The ONLY brain I see in this was Lakefield for knowing the folks to bring these two companies together. NOW Parker and team get praises? Praises for tearing everything we had that meant anything to a customer or employee apart? Unreal. If this side of the operation was on deaths door we sure turned a profit without any BIG ideas from Parker. Hmmm interesting. They lucked out with low wages and the fact that fares are lower in general and more people have taken to the skies. 🙄 PS We ALL DO need to stick together.

This would have made everyone on the east side happy. It's sad the America West decided to merge with US and structure a deal to turn the company into the black and pay some profit sharing. Clearly, you have been enjoying some of the "Parker Kool-aide". :wacko:

Profit sharing checks are great and no one on here has suggested otherwise. BUT, (at the very least) pay raises commensurate with the cost of living increases we are all experiencing would be even better. This is especially true when upper managament is laughing all the way to the bank with the millions they will make and have made out of stock options etc. Granted they have all negotiated those perks in their own contracts with the BOD and that is great for them. On the flip side Doug needs to realize that all labor groups have a right to try to negotiate the best contract possible for themselves. This "cost-neutral" bull-s**t has got to go. It's high time management get off their asses and negotiate NON-CONCESSIONARY contracts with all of us. Anything else is a waste of time. I venture to say a FULLY integrated airline is not going to happen anytime in the near future.
 
I just flew between two USAirways (east) strong holds on "the red bellied" airline. Person at the window was a former US CP.

He pointed to the legroom and said "I'll never get anything this comfortable on USAir.."

We then were served our snacks

He said "this is about as good as that lousy snack basket on USAir"

The FA's then came around with a beverage service, by tray.

"I'd still be waiting if I were on USAir, and I probably wouldn't have gotten the full can."

He then pointed to his ticket, and showed me he paid about $150 one way.

"USAir wanted $800..."

Disregarding the beverage comment, I think that Tempe needs to start realizing who our customers are. We can only have so many "one time flyers" on our planes.

I'm wondering if Parker & CO are the ones that planted that pig in First Class a couple years ago as a hint of our new "customer focus"...

Put down the kool-aid for a minute and know this if it weren't for the East contracts albeit bad as they are your boy Parker and the gang wouldn't have shared one dime of the profits period! They have yet to show any good will toward labor since this merger has taken place and it dosen't appear that they will be anytime soon. Dougs stance is we aren't the lowest paid we aren't the highest paid so remember don't bother to offer the worst customer service but don't offer the highest either, do your job no more, no less!!

THAT IS REALLY UNCALLED FOR....first of all, most of us on the west side are in agreement with the east, that the operations of this airline is failing....and we agree things need to change. And walking past overwing, YES we were not allowed to...one Flt attendant got suspended for going past overwing...most of us thought it was a stupid policy, but we had to play the game or get suspended. BTW, going overwing has now changed to the east side...THANK YOU!....Instead of knocking down the "westies" as you call us....WE should be united to get a CONTRACT and stand up to management together...management would love to see us divided...I for one would love to have some kind of raise, been a FA on the west side for 20 years and reached top salary and haven't had a raise in 6years....UNBELIEVABLE!..and you on the east want some of what you gave back....WE ALL WANT THE SAME THING...LET'S UNITE AND SHOW MANAGEMENT.... Look in Europe how the unions stand up to the companies...It's been along time since Unions went against Coporate America and it's profits...without us employees there would be no profits for these guys! It just amazes me, how after 18months of negotions for the FA's, we haven't even discussed Scheduling, Hours, Pay, Reserve, Sick....wouldn't this be a great idea....every week all the Unions of US demostrate outside HDQ once a week until management takes our talks seriously....I quess that's being to optimistic!!
 
I think you should strike immediately. It would be the best thing for this airline. That way capacity could come out of the airline industry and the other airlines can thrive. This has to be the worst airline flying today in the US. I think you should show management what a horrible airline they have created. There is not a positive thing about this airline - it's amazing it runs every day.
