Yesterday Morning I flew PHL-DFW and there was a German Shephard on the plane sitting in a seat, 1st class as well. I had to doubletake my look when I boarded. Is this allowed or what is the story? Could I buy a seat for my pet? The dog was in NO cage. Although it did have a leash on, but no muzzle.

Maybe it was a seeing eye (or other type of helper) dog?

At NW, that's the only way you could get an animal of that size into the cabin.

Lapdogs can ride "up top" for a small fee-$50.00 I think-but they have to have a soft kennel that will fit underneath a seat.

Hope this helps a little....

It wasn't a seeing eye dog, It may have been a military dog as the person was in the Army.

Did you get his autograph? If he was sitting on a seat, he is a "Celebrity Dog". Celebrity dogs are the only ones allowed on seats. Service animals have to lie at their owners feet.

I fly all the time with my pet skunk, named Stinky,in the cabin. People sure give me a lot of room when I have my skunk with me. The other passengers have a fearfull look on their faces and I can't see why. Stinky doesn't bark or bite like other "service" animals. Skunks are really neat critters, wouldn't you agree?
