Is this a new low for PHL or just a sign of the times?
The Admin. clerks had 2 city police officers with them while they handed out pay checks today.
The line starts about 2 hours before checks are handed out and gets to be about 150 new hires long.......seems you can't get direct deposit if you don't have a bank account!
Guess the wait makes them get a bit outta control.

CLT doesn't have quite that kind of a problem but the quality of people is at an all time low. Most fast food places pay more with better working conditions.

I think it takes upwards of a month to create a direct deposit account. Give them a break.

What do you expect when most of the young people don't really want to work for any wage they want it given to them
just like they had it handed to them all their lives

Doesn't the IAM already collect "protection" money? They should be able to provide security.

I remember once back in 2000 or 2001 in STL when TWA management screwed-up something on the paychecks and said they'd make it up right away. Some IAM guys reacted by igniting trash cans in the terminal, requiring the FBI to investigate.

What are you talking about?

Philly, an anti-union bias, nothing at all?

Usairways, not the IAM, is legally obligated to provide a safe working environment (employee actions and equipment).....something they fail miserably at in PHL.

How do they fail??? Tell us more crushed

As an example....2 people in the last 2 months rushed to hospital and into surgery after equipment failures. (Actually, not failures...but unsafe equipment that was put into service anyway.)
2 women in last 6 weeks physically assulted in altercations on the ramp.
Piney....I've been talking about PHL ramp conditions on this board for quite awhile....nothing has changed.

Since the pilots are the lowest paid in the industry, I guess that says something about the pilots "quality", heh?

While giving up a nearly fully funded retirement to "save" the company shows the collective wisdom of the (East) pilot group is not what it should be and perhaps reflects the pilots compensation status, some of us are trying to bring the pilots collective IQ up to triple digits.

It is hard work as the egos of pilots, many times, gets in the way of common sense. Of course, having the faction on the pilots MEC that could never pass up a concession does not help much.

That doesn't excuse the fact that the police need to be called because they can't act like adults!

Please explain and be specific why the cops were called. After all, what can someone do with an unendorsed check?

What made "whomever" call the cops?
