PHX Fog Saturday?

Apparently you dont understand the company has agreed to what is in the CBA.

Too bad you don't like it.

There are rules in life and they are to abided by.

Too bad so sad.

And if you read it clearly it will say operated by America West on the west metal.

If its TWO different operating certificates, Why does your planes have US Airways PAINTED on the side?

First off, the plane does say "Operated by America West Airlines" on it. Second, the FA's have that same lingo in their announcements. The flights Mesa, Republic, Air Wisconsin and Comair make for major airlines are under their certificates, not the airline they are flying for.

Both US Air and America West were largely union airlines. Both airlines had language in their contracts that specified the rights and responsibilities of both parties in the event or a merger and/or acquisition. The merged companied has not yet made suitable offers to the unions for the FA's or the pilots to cause them to desire to yet merge their contracts. You could blame the company for that because they have not merged the contracts. The workers are simply living and working under their last ratified contracts.

Don't blame the unions so quickly. They are doing their contracted jobs.

I am a passenger and I could give a rats tail about your union on who is allowed to take me. If I am in PHX and I am supposed to fly to SJC, for example, the original plane is out of service and there is an EAST metal available, Your telling me SCREW the Passenger for your UNION! Piss off customers, and when you are out of a job in a year or two, please do not file for unemployment, save me my tax dollars.
East and west aircraft are dissimilar from different engine types to having cockpit switches in different positions and beyond. Cabins are also equipped differently, emergency equipment is in different locations and different brands. You don't just jump from one into another. It all takes time to convert, train, etc. The aircraft are under different operating certificates meaning the FAA views it as two companies, again prohibiting swapping aircraft. It could be merged more quickly, contracts could be agreed to sooner- it's all up to management.
Don't blame labor for what management controls, that's why they get millions in bonuses.

Yeah you're right, I can't blame the unions so quickly. They are doing what you pay your dues for. I just hope that both sides can come to a good partnership when they actually become 1 airline.

West and East employees that I have encountered this past few weeks, They ALL were very Friendly and Professional.

Good Luck in the Coming Year and May it be a Good One for All.

I don't see this as any different from my days back at the outstation when Republic would screw everything up due to a maintenance or lack of crew issue. We constantly had PSA coming down to save my passengers and get people home. (RW was the only USX operator @ my airport)

So how is this different from what I had arranged for my passengers?

Because PSA and Republic are capacity purchase agreements, they are not mainline flights, they are Express.

They dont work under mainline CBAs.

Mainline, East and West CBAs were agreed to by the company and the unions and prohibit swapping of metal to make up flights, contractually East Mainline flights and West Mainline Flights are protected be US and HP Mainline CBA Scope Language which makes it each FA group exclusive work at their respective carrier.

It prevents the company from laying off and moving flying around, it offers protections and job security to each unionized group.

And the bottom line is the Company agreed to it and they must abide by it.

So if we cancel flights and can't protect passengers on our own flights, the unions would rather see us protect them on other airlines???
Did you ever thank that maybe the schedulers, many of whom alo haven't had days off around the holidays, had to work an extremely long day as well? Some were called in on their days off, or from vacation, to help out.

You of all people should know NOT to answer the phone!

To be honest with you I'm glad you got called in now you know how it feels when we get forced to stay somewhere. If i have been flying around since early morning, then divert to TUS and then finally make it to PHX and we're still suppose to do a turn. If I am projected and don't want to go over 14.5 hr duty and someone from my crew phones to advise a scheduling we are projected and don't want to volunteer. ... We don't deserve to be hung up on. It is your job to deal with us in a professional manner not to treat us like second class citizens. I don't feel sorry for you one bit!

Gosh,

This sounds like any inclement weather day in Philly.
Welcome to our world.

Oops I forgot, their doesn't even have to be any weather in Philly for things to go Tango Uniform!
We had some agents from LAS PHX LAX come to our station to help with the shares computer cutover they couldn’t believe the irregular operations on the east side they were overwhelm

I don't think 1/2 of HP realizes the operational issues that we must overcome everyday.

I even showed an HP sup the N*Land report in Sabre and he was amazed.... (at how organized we are, how OCC keeps it updated, etc).

HPers are going to be in shell shock once the fences come down and they're doing xxx-PHL-XXX and running 3 hours late due to whatever...

I don't think the crews would be shocked so much.... we run late a lot with or without weather delays. We have silly people in aircraft routing! 😛 It just seems that our ground people in the hubs freak out to easily and those pencil pushers upstairs don't know what the heck they are doing when a drop of rain comes out of the sky.

In CLT they get that way when it snows.
