In November, US Airways put up for bid most ramp vendor services contracts by select cities. It is rumored that Piedmont Airlines is the main contender for taking over several cities in the Carolinas. Does anyone have any dates or further information on Piedmont taking over ramp functions. The last I heard that an announcement would be early next year because US Airways had to many bids to review. LOL

As much as outsourcing sucks, it would be nice to get the stations worked by outside vendors worked by PDT. At least it's part of the US group.

Agreed. If changing from ASIG or Jetstream to EN as the outsourced vendor, then having a wholly owned division of the company as the replacement is the best option. It provides a level of control and consistency that doesn't materialize with an outside company.

What EN is aiming to do is replace US mainline employees in smaller stations that are already staffed by mainline employees. It is outsourcing on a different level because Piedmont is a wholly owned division of US Airways and their budget is doled out by US Airways group. Piedmont is mainly used as a tax write-off for the main entity, as well as PSA Airlines, because US Airways Group can throw money at Piedmont and PSA with no reasonable expectations of a return. US Group can claim the losses of both carriers on the balance sheet as a tax deduction and they don't have much to lose. It is a shell game that most US mainline employees have no knowledge about, nor do they care to know about it.

Really, ask any mainline front line employee who Piedmont and PSA are, and most of them don't even know that they are divisions of US Airways that are under the same budget umbrella. Maybe the company is counting on the ignorance as a way to make an end run around IAM and CWA contracts.

I've said enough. Time to go to bed.

I am sure it is true-they took over SYR last November, got the equipment (belt loaders, etc) also.
The station manager thought he was smart now all he has is very senior ML employees,no ramp and no equipment sounds like another express city soon. Why not it would save ML lots of money 8hr vs 19hr

Both, GSO and ILM have not had scheduled mainline service in over a year. Also, CHS and SAV constantly reverse mainline schedules. It would make since for Piedmont to take over operations, at least on the ramp first, then take over customer service operations.

GSO has not had mainline scheduled service in over 5 years PLUS. Currently GSO has about 24 flights per day but with LGA shutdown that will decrease unless GSO DCA frequency is added. Biggest AC that GSO has seen in past few years as scheduled is E175. Once in a while they get mainline gas and go.

How many mainline flights did GSO have yesterday
