In today's economic environment we are reintroducing the DC-3 into our fleet for the China flying. All Pilots with a 1960s Hire Date will report to re qualification training next week.

The plane is not owned by US anymore, the Carolinas Aviation Museum in CLT now owns it and maintains it as US sold it off.

Still begs the question of "why is it in Philadelphia?"

I heard their Mason-Dixon Line Indicator Gauge failed in flight while flying from CLT to GSO. It's currently being detained by those D**m Yankees in PHL.

that sure is a beautiful plane. They did a beautiful job of restoring it to flying conditions. I think Delta did a DC-3 too at one time? thoses are excellent pictures of the plane

Yes, Delta's got a "three" at their museum at their ATL HQ. As does AA at their museum adjacent to DFW.
The DL and AA threes are not flyable, however, unlike the PI example, and the one that flies in period CO colors.

One of the AA DC-3s is still in flyable condition. I saw it fly at an airshow in Fort Lauderdale a couple years ago.

I wasn't aware of another 'three' in AA colors other than the "Flagship Knoxville" at the C. R. Smith Museum at AA HQ. Glad to hear there's another!
Though of two more museum DC-3s in old airline colors: One in NW colors at the Henry Ford (museum), Dearborn MI; and one in AS colors at the Boeing Museum of Flight, SEA.
...Oh, and of course we can't forget the EAL example at the Smithsonian (which has actually donated by Eastern way back in the mid-50s!).
