ALPA will be back in the next merger of your airline and i bet they will work real hard for you! And if USAPA does get the awa seats and replaces them with usair pilots, After the new airline comes in and all their pilots flush them out again, What will the usair pilots tell the awa pilots that took the jobs that they held to come back to USAIR. GET UP THATS MY SEAT!
Sir, you are living in a fantasy world. Yet again, the east does not want your seat or your job, even if you refuse to lift a finger to guarantee your own job/seat. Rookies.

The East does not want your seat

Funny. That is EXACTLY what we were trying to convey to our east brothers & sisters for the last 2 years! There are about 180-200 that live or commute more easily there. By the same token, there are AAA pilots that live west of the Mississippi that would have benefited (I'll bet the numbers are close to the same amount).

But we just couldn't get past that DOH/LOS mantra, could we?? Nice job letting the window for a new joint contract close last fall while USAPA spoilers sat in the van making a plan. Captial idea!!

ALPA or APA will be your new FORCED representation when Parker announces the next merger. Gee, I wonder if you can get them to help you with DOH??

You guys have lit a fire under a group that was "go along to get along". We have NEVER been more galvanized. A thousand thanks!!

ALPA will be out of business soon. The new federal legislation regarding the merging of airline seniority lists has made it better to be in an independent union rather than a national union. Pilot groups will be bolting from ALPA in droves now that USAirways has shown it CAN be done.

Also, if any one of the many federal lawsuits being tried against ALPA by various groups of east pilots hits its mark, ALPA will be bankrupt.

I personally think USAPA will work for the good of ALL pilots.

I'd like to imagine what the AWA pilots would have been like if they had merged with an airline that had a junior work force? Would they not have proclaimed a DOH solution? You can tell me as much as you want that you wouldn't promote it, however you're just being selfish. When Piedmont bought Henson, a junior airline, they went DOH...exactly what the Piedmont pilots wanted. When US bought Piedmont, Piedmont wanted the pilot groups slotted because US had a senior work force. My point being AWA pilots are trying to tell themselves that the Nic award was just. However if AWA had bought Vanguard or someone else, the AWA pilots definitely would have gone DOH. I will dismiss any reply from AWA pilots that argue against this because you CANNOT say you would not promote DOH if you were the senior pilot group. Case and Point!

that what can be done?
that a desperate downtrodden group of people can be sold a bill of goods and empty promises by nothing more than snake oil salesmen?
bravo for inciting greater division and derision, good luck with trying to support a pilot group with an empty 'union'

alpa is by no means perfect, and was no saint, but the devil you know is usually better than the devil you don't

I personally don't. I don't even think its going to be all that good for the east guys. You guys sure do know how to step on your own cranks, of course its other people's fault though.

Your characterizations are misplaced. But if you were referring to the good 'ole boys in Herndon, then you are right on. No we were not sold a bill of goods. In fact it's the best thing that could happen. If ALPA survives it may just have enough time to change, revamp and come back as a real union. I doubt it, but then again anything is possible. We were constantly reminded that USAPA didn't have a chance either.

Just because you don't like USAPA now and want to describe us as the "Devil you don't know", or ALPA as a "Devil", why would you want a devil at all? Maybe you can open your eyes and see we are not "Empty". However, if it makes you feel better to throw out slurs, go ahead. This new union will go forward with or without you. I hope you will at least give it a try first. If you don't like it, you can always withdraw membership.

You don't have to imagine, it was already in the works when we were gonna merge with ATA. The integration that was being talked around campus was something like a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1, already agreed upon. Nothing of DOH was EVER contemplated or even mentioned. But Boeing and Continental put a stop to all of that, and then all you sheep shaggers came along and we've been f@#%ed ever since.

Well, we disagree again. For the east at least it can't get any worse, now that ALPA is gone.

BTW We haven't stepped on anything. Is it going to be easy? No. It will certainly be easier if we can start going in the same direction though.

Can't get any worse? Maybe, maybe not. If I were you though, I'd knock on wood after saying something like that. I've found those kind of statements from me end up biting me in the butt as often as not.

I used to to knock on wood, it didn't help.

At least next time I will have a vote over something biting me.

Of course if you can get a hot chick to bite you in the butt, that would be best of all. Unless....uhhhhh.....you are a hot chick......uhhhh.

like to see 'seniority matters' put money where the mouth is if they even deign to talk to us about the flow we almost had worked out until they're little overthrow
"Flow"? HUH? Are you referring to the seniority list?

Almost worked out? When? At Wye River? Denver? Or was it some secret meeting ALPA was notorious for? If that was the case, then where is the announcement we're almost there? Your credibility just took a nose dive.

However, why don't you give the USAPA leadership a call and let them know you had it almost worked out.
