Pilot seniority arbitration award is out

Have yet to see a post with the results. Why do you say the 1500 furloughs are now likely to decline recall?

No one is going to post a seniority list or arbitation on a pubic web board.

ALL the furloughs, hired between 1988 and 1999, are stapled to the bottom below an April 2005 DOH.

Everyone below the top 30% on the East list dropped 10-15% on the merged list.

Rates of pilots accepting recalls have already been terrible, this list just about puts a nail in the coffin.

Bingo on the last Brother.

Good luck to everyone. Coffin is in the ground... much less the nails.

So, no bump/no flush, does that contain to a West f/o bumping out a East Capt???

What does "no bump / no flush" mean?

I am quessing "no bump" means you cannot bump someone who currently holds a seat or aircraft from that position/aircraft? No flush?

Flush is what TWA did to Ozark. With a new seniority list an entire rebid of the airline is run and you get flushed out of your spot if your new juniority won't hold it.

Other than Famous Dave, the handfull of former U new hire-furloughees that came to HP in 2003-04 are also winners having just jumped past some early 1988 hires. Not too shabby for their total length of service at both companies.

Several of my college buddies have been quitting and flying corporate. My guess is that the trend will continue. The rest may need to take their vacation time in b-i-g chunks.

This will be the nail in the coffin for US Airways.
East guys are already calling in sick and refusing POTA. This unhappy event will pull this airline down, mark my words.

What a load of garbage.

Before the merger we were looking at liquidation. Now we are aleast getting a raise to the West rates. How are we worse off than before the merger was announced?

The lowlifes calling in sick tomorrow are the same guys who called in sick last month.

Yeah? If you got a raise, you are the only one.

Lowlifes? That would be about 56% of the pilots.

If you got raised to West rates, you're not a pilot. No agreement and none in sight. After this award I hope we don't get one-keep them separate.

It will have an effect on operations but I don't think it will put USAir in the coffin. There are too many vested retirements to refuse to suck eggs in exactly the manner they are told to.

PBGC will pay my meager retirement.
I VOTE NO NOW!

Looks like AWA had better lawyers. Good Luck to all.

No, this is what happens when a arbitrator asks you to be reasonable and you thumb your nose at him. The East Merger Committee had a gun to it's head and was not allowed to act independently as it is supposed to. The PHL reps even tried to recall one of the members several months ago just before hearings were to start. Message: "do what we want or you're toast".

This is the product of a dysfunctional union with a dysfunctional MEC running it.

This whole integration was supposed to be about preserving career expectations. What it did was give advantage to one group over the other, career expectations be damned. The arbitrator said as much in his award.

The west pilots will probably stay in PHX for at least a few years, who wants to commute to PHL anyway?

The few adventurous will bring back stories to the west of their horror and hassle of commuting to PHL to fly all nite to Europe, overnite with people that despise you, then carry "All your bags" with you back home!!

It would get old very quick, I dont think the money extra would be worth it.

This is a great wake-up call to all (myself included) that had any expectations of a growing airline thru mergers... We will oppose them in the future, regardless of the "Synergies"....

On the other hand it shows that anything is possible in the hands of an arbitrator.

Good luck to us all, Luck is all we seem to have and I believe we are running out of "Bad Luck". At least weve used a lot of it these past 20+ years.....

what about the furloughed pilots who went to fly "MidAtlantic Airlines" which was still under USAirways certificate? What happens to them? Are they considered part of the furloughees who are under the 2005 West new hires?

What vested retirement ( thought that was gone )
