Pilot seniority arbitration award is out

Must be one heck of a party going on in PHX as they got their windfall(ALPA merger policy does not allow for windfalls).

This decision has the company's fingerprints all over it. I don't know how to prove it, but they bought and fixed this somehow.

My thoughts exactly. Back in 2000/2001 there was a faction of US guys screaming DOH and preaching to UAL guys how that's the way it always goes. These same pilots (and I don't think it was a majority, only a very vocal minority including the notorious USA320pilot) have no idea what it means to be reasonable. It is their way or the highway at any cost. If what you say is true about the PHL reps, then the blame, if any rests on their shoulders. In arbitration, if you shoot for the moon and thumb your nose at the arbitrator, he WILL spank you. HARD.

This arbitration will set the stage for future mergers, and IMO it will finally put to rest the notion that DOH is ever a real option when merging pilot groups.

NO CONTRACT VOTING NO NO NO NO

No, this is what happens when a arbitrator asks you to be reasonable and you thumb your nose at him.

So, you are saying that an arbitrator holds grudges? He rules based on emotion?

If so, I would think that ruling could easily be overturned.

Why are pilots so special. Why are they not in the newsletters helping to make this merge complete and help US Airways get thru this with flying colors? Why, does the company rely on other dependables to rectify the worst merge in the last decade. There are employees that are fixing the PAX/Shares problems and getting their names and pictures circulated. Why, don't pilots help get thru this and make this the world reknowned, low cost airline. Why, is any employee helping this board of Directors get thru this.

OK, so having greater than single digit IQ was obviously not considered an asset for whomever hired you...... congratulations!

I feel bad for all the long suffering U pilots. The arbitrator must have thought, "well, they're used to getting screwed, one more time won't hurt. I'm sure they will get over it, eventually."

He didn't say, "eventually." He said, "when they die".

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why would the company care which names are in which order on the list?

It's done. It's not fair. Close ranks and get a Joint Contract you can be proud of and live with for its duration.

The seniority hit is so bad we are better off with the current contract and the attrition intact on the East.

Stop the JNC now.

The company does not care.

Welcome to the next seating of the USAirways 3 ring circus. The show is about to begin.

While I do not think this decision is fair at all, I am wondering what recourse you have in the East? And what does the company really care?

Now to change the ffocus a little, what effect will this have on operations? I am trying to stay out of union/labor/issues, but I would like to know how this will affect the customer?

From what little I have read, this stinks for you guys and gals in the East, and I am sorry--but I have no dog in this fight, except to look out for my members--your colleagues and customers.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My best to you all....

AAA merger comm. over reached and got burned. Best bet is to get a new contract and try and recoup some $ for the fo's.

Save Dave? Are you kidding me?

Somebody needs to save Dean!

It seems Dave has not only been saved he's gotten a windfall gain.

At least the West pilots created the appearance of unity with their "Save Dave" campaign.

Meanwhile, the majority of the East pilots were perfectly content to "Throw Dean Under The Bus".

Once again, the "all about me" East pilots are getting exactly what they deserve.

This is a wake up for the AAA FO's. The Capt.'s are protected and the got the wide body fence.

Summary of Arbitration Award:

USAIR East asked for $$$$$$$ they got $
USAIR West asked for $$$$ they got $$

Based on the request you see a winner/loser, but based on the results it's not so one sided.

That's an interesting perspective.

Most of the east pilots who are screaming bloody murder right now (rightfully so, IMHO) are the same ones who were slamming the merger committee as "sellouts" because they weren't demanding a straight DOH list.

If this was overreaching, I wonder how the arbtrator would have reacted to the DOH demanded by these same irate pilots?

I blame ALPA national for this stupid merger policy, everything but DOH. That is what caused this debacle. ALPA has been more than glad to screw me for 20 years (B scale, concessions, concessions, conscessions), all the while taking my dues, but this just takes the cake!
