I am hearing that the company has approached the pilot group and asked for more money trying to slow down the cash burn (high fuel costs are unbearable) and prolong how long it can stay in business as it tries to sell off it's assets, merge or take the slim chance of making it on it's own. It sounds as if it could help anyhow.

Let me think about it.....

NO, not now, not ever. The employees of U have bent over backwards for this management team and all they have to show for it is a string of broken promises. They cannot admit their mistakes (holiday meltdown) and continue to protect the same incompetant managers (Crelin) that got them into this mess to start with. I hope there is not one U employee that would give in to this nonsense again. It has been entirely too easy for management to come to the employees repeatedly to cover for their lack of vision and lack of a viable business plan. Threats of liquidation will not work again. Time for management to put up or shut up.

No one has ever told them 'no' though and maybe they want to test the waters once again. I still think more concessions would pass though. I mean what other choices do pilots have to make what kind of money they still would make?

PitGuy:

Why do you have to start unfounded rumors
on this forum? There is no need for additional
wage reductions, and quite frankly, if the
company came back for more, I'm positive
ALPA would tell Mr. Glass where to put his
cheap toupee.

U is short of pilots right now and one major reason is that they are quitting at an alarming rate.

U has plenty of spare pilots and they are not leaving at an alarming rate. Few are leaving. Talk to ALPA and ask them if U management has asked them for cash? Trust me this cash burn rate has management in a panic and you too should be concerned. If so many pilots are leaving why are you still here? Are you not hirable? Just curious.

Everbody knew the ridiculous rhetoric would go up several knotches prior to the 27th. I guess folks hitting the bricks want to make it as nasty for those remaining as possible.

By the way, A 320 Driver is NOT the same as A320Pilot.

oldie,
Do you think it is "not" true that the pilot group has been asked verbally about giving cash?

-And by the way I never hit any bricks. Sorry!

I own my own buisiness. I like to fly. I don't do it for the money.

You are a liar, who wants to stir up the pot...You do not even work here, and you are not a pilot.

What is your problem?

Put yourself in the shoes of U mgt... try to think like them for just a few minutes (be careful, you don't want to brainwash yourself!)

The employees have never said NO. Why would you stop collecting free money if the source is still flowing? (The pilots giving up their pension is proof that they are always willing to move the "line in the sand.")

pitguy,

You are a fool. Management a week ago said at the MEC meeting that the company would not approach any labor group for more money.

Go away and irriate another group.

Okay Einstien,

What airline has been through bankruptcy, and then emerged with any pensions in place?

Answer: NONE

The US Airways pilots did what hey had to do in a tough situation. History now proves that even had the pension not gone away in BK 1, it would have in BK 2.

DUH :-(

Oh by the way, I guess ALL the employees at UAL are whimps and weak as well, they are all losing thier pensions too.

Ya I know, we should have shut the company down, how dare they (management). You would have to be a real fool at this point to even begin to argue this point with all other airlines either losing thier defined benefit plans, or voluntarily working to freeze them (in lieu of losing them) and replace them with defined contribution plans.

There is a time to say no, and what we went through was not that time...unless of course no job was your choice...and if it is your choice, don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Your whole post confirms that there is no point at which the pilots would say "no" as a group.

Mgt can always count on 51% of the pilots to say "yes" to the more drastic paycuts for the other 49%.

-
They did what they had to do

The truth of their honor is self-evident.

We would have given it in BK2 so what's the big deal that we gave it in BK1
Does it so easily escape your notice that BK1 wasn't supposed to happen because the pilots gave the pension with a promise to prevent BK1? Does it not seem even more ironic that it was not even able to prevent BK2?

Oh by the way, I guess ALL the employees at UAL are whimps and weak as well, they are all losing thier pensions too.

When you teach your dog to do tricks like "roll over", does it mean he is a whimp when he "rolls over" or does it just mean he rolls over on command?

If I think like mgt, I could care less if you as a pilot give me more money because you are a whimp or if is because you believe I am the best frickin mgt team that will provide you with crack if you just give me a little starter money. The only thing I care about is that you drop money in my bucket when I pass it around.

Ta Ta...
