I cannot believe that this happenned , but in PIT today we ran out of deicing fluid. The scab outfit that took over for our mechanics didn't anticipate such a heavy demand . When our own people did the deicing this never happened !

Well, the "award winning website" said it was 57 in PIT today. Perhaps they took it literally?

The Guy that is in Charge in PIT for ordering the fluid, is main job is with US IT Dept! Also must be working at DCA!

And to think, what would it have been like if this winter was somewhat normal?

Well, up until now, I have used nothing but a broom to remove snow. Splitting hairs, but this is the first snow event. Take care, Greeter.

Was wondering what was up in PIT today. Usually they are in/out in no time, but one of ours took over 4 hours today to get out/off. Thats not a typical PIT ops day even in bad weather.
Just curious if the same thing happened in PHL today? Had a 945am flight off the gate at 1047am and not airborne until around 3. Did PHL run out today as well or something else there?

Even with this snafu, ops at PIT the last few days were much smoother than PHL, was the weather that different between the two cities? Or.....was it just the normal PHL thing?

Come on folks...this is a major airline that operates in the Northeast during winter. Yes, this year has been extremely warm but you can't get caught with your pants down when the norm happens. Maybe the PHX thread will explain this.......

Did IDS fail to order glycol, or was the truck delayed in delivering it? The roads around here haven't been too hot as of late.

PIT uses quite a bit of deicing fluid. Deliveries have been late in the past, regardless of who is running the booms.

Maybe it was a screwup, but I haven't seen any proof yet.

When I was a lead in 435 I personally witnessed Mainline helping out our friends in Express letting them bring aircraft into hangar two that were snow/ice covered and with their captains approval, Main hosed the planes down with a hot water wash so they could get out of PIT.Wash, then out the door to the taxiway....

The PHL ramp is still completely covered in ice! Management failed to have the ramp plowed tuesday night into wednesday morning and everything that fell iced over. We only have a couple of push tugs with chains and there is a long wait. I've never seen anything quite like it. Someone might get the boot over this; we'll see.

Promote to the level of incompetence; immediately, if not sooner!
