What's new

Question Bob Owens

YOU dont get it, Bob O speaks for a majority that voted NO !!!NO MORE GIVE BACKS PERIOD !!!they want it, they can take it.The good Mechanics can have a new job tomorrow if they choose to move on.
they offer an early out ,I'll be first in line and i don't think I'll be alone !!

Okay where will I find these jobs with a defined benefit pension plan, health insurance at the rate or better than I have now, and can start me off at my AMT CC rate? Can you post that link?

The majority of those that voted no believed that either a few things needed to be tweaked or altered, not a complete do-over. And Bob and company claimed there was more money on the table. Where is that money now? In some BK lawyers pocket not ours. So the strategy was full pay to the last day. Great! Perfect! Bob wins!!!

Bob Owens recently posted that a lot of senior mechanics would leave as soon as they got their large retro checks; so now that retro is probably not among the possible outcomes, will they stay or go?

My feeling is that the people we just hired or transferred in will start looking for new jobs since they have no time invested.

First of all ,when managment took bonus every year after rank and file took 20% pay cuts the well was poisioned from then on.
This is really B/K number 2 There will be no more threats .Most think this should have happened in 2003.The rejected T/A was more give backs.
I'm sure the INTERNATIONAL was suprised the I GOT MINE didn't work this time and was rejected by 2/3 of the vote. We can hold our heads up
knowing we didnt volutarily screw the next group of AMTs.Let the company do that on their own ! You do know they want to get rid of DP,amd our insurance is just terrible!
Google AMT jobs, Its good to be perpared.

Yes, and there is the feeling amongst the members i work with every day is that they have grown tired of this rhethoric. He wants us to believe, and I know his intent is all good, that we will fare better in BK court....As soon as my pension is either frozen or terminated...NO GOOD WILL HAVE COME FROM BK!
I still say we should have had them go BK back in 2003. We gave them more outside of BK than they would have received in BK. Now after eight years of brutal, industry leading real time concessions the things we kept, which we would see way down the road, are under threat.

" But we still have a pension"
well you paid for it, figure the numbers. We kept the pension, and each year it increases in value around by $1200 years down the road, but we gave up a week of vacation that our peers kept, that's worth $1310 at our current rates here and now. Add in the match that was used when the DB was cancelled and over the last eight years AA saved a ton of money by not having to lay out money for a match ($3700) and getting all of us to work an extra week more than our peers essentially for free. For every 50 workers that lost a week of vacation they could shed one worker off payroll.

"but we still have retiree medical"

Well you were paying for that as well with less Holidays, sick time and iod time than our peers. Throw in straight time for training and other concessions

"we still have oh"

In 2003 the union said cut the jobs and leave the pay, the company opted out. The company said they could not run their business if they cut that many heads. They cut them anyway along with capacity but have kept oh in house because AA already had low cost mechanics in place, our peers did not. AA enjoyed and most likely still enjoys an overall cost advantage by keeping this work in house. Despite the fact that we do nearly all our oh in house and Southwest outsourced most of theirs are labor costs per ASM are pretty close.

. We went through BK, already lost as much in value what we would have lost and now they may try and get those things we have paid for as well.

Buck just lost a man off his crew to WN. In three years he'll be topped out at what, $40+ an hour? I believe their benefits are not too bad either.

OK, Dave. You've made that claim twice today.

Accusing people of being paid to post here is just about as specious as calling every judge or arbitrator who rules against you as being crooked.

Prove your case, or shut up already.

Who died and left you in charge?

Are you in denial that there are indeed paid bloggers here?
It is so obvious you cannot deny it.

I don't doubt that there are jobs out there at high pay, just not for everyone. WN has how many AMTs? 1500? Do they have turnover or growth sufficient to get most of us a job?

WN has a 401K match, which could be good or bad depending on how much you put in. I am over 50 so I am running out of time to go conservative on a fund so I will have to fund at a high contribution rate and go risky on the funds I invest in.

The option fo starting over isn't exciting to me but doable.

The pension:
Work your whole career making a little less so that you can have a little more when you retire.
Well for years we have been working for less and less and less and now they want our pension and still pay us less.
You talk about your 16K that you lost well stop your blubbering creat some OT and make your money back at the companies exspence. you want to keep giving and they will keep taking. Enough is enough. Strap in I hear the pilots are refusing to give up their pension. That will either lead to a wildcat or the demise of AA through chaos. I dont blame them a bit. If you dont fight these greedy bastards who reward themselves from doing a piss poor job then you are the fool. * years of concessions and it is still labors fault WAKE THE F**K UP. We are with you Bob lets kick some corporate arse !!!!!!

You got that right, not for everyone. Then why over the years have the TWU members continued to make use of the industrial unin system? Why is it that the Stock Clerks, Fleet Service, Facilities Maintenance and Mechanics have yet to truly have a seperate contract? No response is needed concerning another union, they are not here. Yes they have turnover and growth, turnover when they retire and growth from the morale that we lack.. The TWU negotiates a certain amount that the company allows them to have and they attempt to divide it evenly.

Since the Defined Pension was been a thorn for the company, it would have been nice if the membership had been given a choice concerning the 401k matching that the company received. Now there is no choice but to take the freeze on the pension and as you say raise my contrabution rate. Its a good thing that overtime is not gone, yet. If this aging work force could have started a matching 401k 10 years ago the pension issue would not be so dramatic today. But there are a lot of ifs.

Another moron speaks!

When are you going to realize that the vote NO coalition will not be able deliver the 2001 contract!!!!

When are going to recognise that AA was not bluffing!!!!!

Quit your whining and either shut up or move on!

My bet is that you will not quit, but stay at AA because you don't have the conviction of your words.

Since the record is posted, then there is no need for geographical compensation for those in the large cities.

Is our union representing those you listed? I would not want to go at it non-union.........

I don't know if your union represents any of them, but it's New York, for chrissakes. Even the homeless have a union.
