Recall Questions

 Trust in me...Trust in me....look into my eyes and trust in me....oops sorry thought this was the link to "the Jungle Book Trivia"

Over the years I've been on six roadtrips to PHL and it doesn't seem like a very fun place to work.(on a permanent basis) Thats my two cents worth. Take it for what it's worth.

I was recalled to PHL as well, I was just laid off from utility about a month ago. I start back as a mechanic on the 23rd. PM me if you need any local PHL phone numbers. Maybe I'll see you there.

And another thing I'm sure you heard the pension is gone. Do what you want but most of us youger guys(thats under 50 in usair years) are looking for other jobs and most of us have a minimum of 16.5 years. So what does that tell you. Your hopes at usair seem pretty dismal. A merger and your possibly gone and no merger and usair is probably gone. You pick, the knife or the gun. Just take a hard look at what little we have left and where you'll fit in(3rd sh t/w off, 8 1/2 hour night, no differential, any raises you receive will be wiped out by raising health insurance costs, pay for your uniforms, on and on and on. Man I could keep going on but I don't want to keep scaring you. The only plus of returning is you'll get to have the iam represent you.

NOT!!!

Thanks for all the info and advice. I decided not to take the recall and resighn. Emotionally it was a tough decision, but practically It was an easy one. I am in the very fortunate position of being worth a lot more than mainline currently pays, and could not justify to myself taking such a hugh paycut, even if it was to do something I love. FYI: From what they told me they are going back to 1997 so I am glad all my old buddies are gonna have a place to go if they need one. They said about half arent taking the callback, and that very few of the PIT layoffs bid PHL. Also they are adding positions in PHL, not just replaceing, so maybe they know the AW merger is gonna happen and they feel confident in investing in that hub again? Anyway, Good luck to all of you who are still there, It looks like things might finnally be turning around.

Yeah.. The company and USA320 were confident that the UAL merger was going to take place as well. Its ok to Dream.

Good luck.. You more than likely made the right choice. I left the company 7 mos ago and I can tell you it was a welcome change. I work for a much better company that treats its people right without giving away the store.

I also forgot about the payscale thing, the money would not be so good. If you feel you must get back into aviation, go back to Phl, pester managment enough that they send you to Airbus school and then bail to JetBlue. They love all the previously trained Airbus mechanics provided them free of charge by this great Usair management team!!!!

Now that's the America West attitude! With these types of folks, HP/US is looking at Clear Skies Ahead!
