The Republic deal has been completed. The aircraft transition will be done during the time frame of December 2005 thru May 2006. They found the 14 million that they needed.

I hope they tell us something soon..you know how they like to wait till the last minute.

Wonder if it is a new agreement...as suggested above (different timeline for aircraft transfer etc)

The "Deal" is not done.

The grievence still remains to be decided/arbitrated, and Republic is still just a idea, not an airline...

Neither can prevent the sale, but each is important to the outcome and the ability to make it work.

If you've no official announcement then I feel sorry for you son... I got 99 Problems, but Republic ain't one...

I don't need you to feel sorry for me as this has NO bearing whatsoever on me.
I do feel for my fellow crew though. So, save it for someone else.

Republic is supposed to be completing proving runs at the end of August and recieving their certificate a few days later. They are scheduled for E170 service out of LGA in early September. The vote from the Teamsters is expected to close in the last week of August. The leadership expects it to pass by a large margin. It includes 25 E190's.

Also in the future, Mesa is scheduled to operate CR9's out of CLT in the November time frame.

Republic started proving runs today. Call sign is rumored to be Brickyard. Anyone hear them on the radio today?

If true, this is very disappointing news. While I recognize the need to raise as much cash as possible to give the merger its best chance of success, this deal seems to give up too much over the long term just to raise a relatively small amount of money in the short term.

Plus, there must be other deals that can be done with other assets that are less critical to the future of the merged carrier. Today's announcement of the sale-leaseback of four 737s and a spare engine to an arm of Goldman Sachs is an example of good deal. UAIR makes money up front ($30.8M), continues to use of the planes for four years, gets money back for heavy mtc ($10M), and lets go of the plane as new replacements come into the fleet. Goldman Sachs gets planes at a reasonable price with four years of guaranteed income and a reasonable timetable to line up another carrier for a subsequent lease. Good deal short-term and long-term for both parties. The Republic deal is good short-term for UAIR and Republic, great long-term for Republic and lousy long-term for UAIR.

Question about Call Sign.

Has the Rule Changed?

Previously, one would have to operate 60 days (I think) , prior to recieving a call Sign from the FAA. You would just use the Aircraft Tail Number in the interm. I remember Eastwind using N220US and N221US until recieving the Stinger Call Sign after completing a so called Probationary period.

I believe you are misinformed. The company received BK court approval to sell four 767 aircraft today.

The most credible information at this juncture is that Parker wants the E-170s and 190s, and AWA management has been very visible the past couple of weeks touring MAA aircraft and facilities. It is rumored that Wexford wants no part of the myriad of lawsuits and grievances filed/being filed. By the same token, it is rumored that Wexford is trying to hold the company to the agreement.

This sort of announcement should not be made unless the person is 100% sure of what is happening. This effects the livlihood of many, many people.

How do you think they will float the E190s past mainline? It is a violation of LOA93 scope provisions. Of course, that has never been an obstacle before has it?
