Anyone hear about a possible a/c swap with DL? the TW 757s for a couple DL 777s. Not sure if there is any weight to this rumor.

My gut feeling is that this is only a rumor. DL only has 7 or 8 B-777's. Currently, we fly ATL-NRT. We are adding ATL-TLV this Spring. We are applying for ATL-DKR-JNB and hope to launch in December. This should keep the majority of the current 777 fleet busy.

<_< -----The 757 is a vary popular aircraft in the industry. ALCOA is having quit a hard time finding 757's to convert to Freighters. One of our AMT's suggested that aa sell them the ones that they have in the desert, just to find out aa dosen't have any in the desert! They're flying all they have, including the exTWA aircraft.

Stranger things have happened in bankruptcy, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see DL's 777 fleet shrink. It was acquired when they were flying multiple NRT routes.

ATL-DKR-JNB can be flown with the 767-300. TLV is a bit of a stretch non-stop, but it's a piece of cake as a one-stop over CDG or another European point.

ATL-TLV non-stop with a 767 isn't much of a stretch, can be done quite easily, although strong headwinds might force the occassional fuel stop. El Al will be using 763s (in addition to 762s) on TLV-MIA non-stops this summer.
