Say Goodbye to Powdered Creamer?

On west we serve mini moos in first and powdered in coach. I usually take a few extras from first and give to the folks in the back unless we have A LOT of coffee drinkers, which is seldom in the Southwest!
THAT IS EXACTLY OUR POINT! On a recent flight LAS-CLT with a pax count of 150, I served 6 trays of coffee, (12 per tray) not to mention at least 5decafs and 4teas........people want MILK or Cream, NOT the powdered crap. You Westies are really in for a rude awakening when it comes to the East Coast consumer........they DRINK COFFEE (on EVERY flight believe it or not and whether You like it or not). This creamer issue has really gotten to the point that it shows Tempe will do whatever the hell it wants and to hell with the customer on an issue having minor implications to the budget. And for the record, I drink mine BLACK...so don't go there.

The way around this whole thing is for Travis Christ to stop insulting customers and go do some sort of deal with Starbucks to serve REAL coffee on US Flights. If the deal was structured right it would be a real differentator in the market.

I'm also betting that based on observation of some of my Coffee Slave friends and co-workers there would be people who would fly US just to get the free cup of Starbucks.

It's Out of the box thiking which is something that the Sandcastle has not demonstrated alot of yet, but it IS a new way to look at things that might actually do cost neutral if it generates a few ticket sales.

I can't remember which airline (without researching it), but I think UA already serves Starbucks (maybe Horizon too?). "Out of the box" thinking would be to partner with someone else... such as Caribou, based near MSP, but does have outlets in the DCA, RDU, PIT, CMH and CLT areas. I know if I had the choice, I'd take Caribou over Starbucks.

Remember that fun airline on the west coast around the 1980's....smiles all the time....then the southern one with the bird on the tail...southern hospitality..Remember?

Then came along the east coast money making machine with red tails...Warren Buffetts baby....one mentality shoved into the face of the other 2...WOW! What was it...Mirror Image?...Our way or the highway! I experienced it then and we are all experiencing it now. Only from the sandcastle this time instead of the crystal palace. Isn't it funny how history repeats it's self?

Just a thought to ponder....Everyone have a great week!!

Who plans this stuff.

When you fly with people who do that janky, ice on the cart setup its a mess. If you have powder the pax just hand the cup of coffee beack to you to ask for something else- wasting time and you have nowhere to put the unused cup of coffee.

I was on the Shuttle and ran out of creamer because all I had on the cart was a cup of it in a drawer... had to have my co-worker run back for more which isnt pretty with such limited time. I cant imagine offering those customers powder- they act crazy when there is no milk (which there usually at least is on the Shuttle.)

Why don't you do what a CLT crew did on a flight last summer? Just plop down big plastic bags of snacks and tell the pax to take what they want and pass them around. That'll save time. And then, while the pax are passing the huge plastic bags around, push the cart through first class and hand out cans of beverages and tell people to open them because it is unsanitary for the FA to open the can.

Who gets crazy over powdered creamer?   :eye:

Apologize, apologize, thats ALL we do all day...
Have they given you guys the "LAST" tool? Acronym for Listen, apologize, solve, thank. That's always been their answer for just about any problem that they have no intention of fixing.

You are right on. I am having flash backs

Yesterday I flew the 6:40AM LGA-CLT, and they had real 2% milk in F for the coffee. The F/A did what they do on United and other "full service" airlines--they had you the cup of coffee, and then a tray with sugar and---dare I say it---MILK!

In light of this recent discussion, I was somewhat surprised.

You guys and gals do an amazing job considering the tools you have to work with.

My best to you all....
Better watch out the accountability police may be patrolling.
Where did that milk come from who put and paid for it and how did it get on the a/c

Is this a big thing at America West? Because we've heard it mentioned several times... Yes, anyone who has worked at an airline , retail, restaraunt has heard of the LAST approach. You're just not suppposed to have to use it with EVERY customer...

Awww c'mon man. I grew up out east, I still have lots of family in PIT and I KNOW how they drink coffee. I was not saying the decision was right, I was just trying to point out where it came from. Yes, management should have at least looked into it before making the sweeping change .... but did you really expect that from a management team that is only "in it" for the stockholders and took the closets out of the 320's? Better yet, they are going to make a plane that barely do transcon A321 even heavier by adding more seats.....oh vey! In the end, I was not saying it was a good decision I was just trying to shed light.....
