I just started a new job and everyone is avoiding this one guy. They said he is a mechanic eastern scab. I would like to confirm this. I did a google search and came up with a list put out by ALPA. I did not see my new coworker's name on it. But being published by ALPA I think this list is one that has pilots only on it. Does anyone here have a link or know where I could get a list that would include mechanics?

There is not an official list by the IAM of scabs, but if someone was, word gets out pretty fast.

thank you, but I bet there is an "unofficial" list
There was indeed a list at the local pit lodge. It was started back in the 92 strike. A friend of mine found himself on it because at the time he was still on his probation and HAD to report for duty!! With NO fault of his own his was label marked and shunned by the elitists IAM moronic so called leaders who are nothing but pure vermin promoted as fast as they are incompetent to highly paid union positions. This is why I will rot in hell before belonging to another union as they are as corrupt as the day is long with that corruption being coved up by mouth pieces who have raised out of the sewage pits, as we all see on these boards ad nausea.

Andy was screwed over by the IAM during the '92 strike and did not deserve to be on the list.

What was the date he worked at EA? That will tell you if he is a SCAB.
Well that's another thing he says he was there during the strike alright but claims he was "in management" at the time. He doesn't deny that he was there though. So I would like to know if we at work are rightfully treating this guy. If he was just innocently working in mgt at the time of the strike. Or if he is a scab. Were there any union people that took mgt jobs to keep working so they could appear to not be scabs?

The probies were told not to work, they scabbed, they crossed a picket line, the ones that did not scab were protected by the union and were not terminated.

Management performed struck work, they are scabs.

Welcome back c

Ok then he is a scab. But I thought that being in mgt at the time of a strike was just a hazard of the job and a person wasn't considered a scab. That is why so many of the NW people went into mgt before the strike there.

Symantics, if you perform struck work you are a scab.

Why would one human treat another with anything but dignity? You goons are no different then the backward tribal gangs in Africa or the Middle East, you just don't carry your hate to the level of murder (at least not anymore). The lack of education, class and understanding of the "active" union types is truley amazing. That those kinds of punk and gang like behavior is thought of as a good thing. Why don't you go put a deer head on his door step or something?

dig·ni·ty [ dígnətee ] (plural dig·ni·ties)
noun
Definition:

1. self-respect: a proper sense of pride and self-respect

2. seriousness in behavior: seriousness, respectfulness, or formality in somebody's behavior and bearing

3. worthiness: the condition of being worthy of respect, esteem, or honor

4. due respect: the respect or honor that a high rank or position should be shown

5. high office: a high rank, position, or honor

Do you really want to use the that word "any" when talking about humans and dignity?

What world are you living in.

If you are management you do what you are told. You have no union protection. Christ, give the guy a break.

I've been a Teamster for 10 years and I would file a greivence in a heartbeat if anyone out of my work area did my job.

I would hold against someone who was hired to do my job expressly for the strike. Someone who say is a RON planner who would have to work in stores pulling parts for that night for example. What choice would he have. Say no and get fired. For what? You, me, why?

I don't think I would be buying the SOB a cup of coffee but I wouldn't call him a scab either.

A scab does not deserve to be treated with dignity, they took food off our table and money out of our wallets.

Jack London said it best:

The Scab
"After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad, and the vampire, he had some awful substance left with which he made a scab."

"A scab is a two-legged animal with a corkscrew soul, a water brain, a combination backbone of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of rotten principles."

"When a scab comes down the street, men turn their backs and angels weep in heaven, and the devil shuts the gates of hell to keep him out."

"No man (or woman) has a right to scab so long as there is a pool of water to drown his carcass in, or a rope long enough to hang his body with. Judas was a gentleman compared with a scab. For betraying his master, he had character enough to hang himself." A scab has not.

"Esau sold his birthright for a mess of pottage. Judas sold his Savior for thirty pieces of silver. Benedict Arnold sold his country for a promise of a commision in the british army." The scab sells his birthright, country, his wife, his children and his fellowmen for an unfulfilled promise from his employer.

Esau was a traitor to himself; Judas was a traitor to his God; Benedict Arnold was a traitor to his country; a scab is a traitor to his God, his country, his family and his class."

Author --- Jack London (1876-1916)
