Should US Airways reintroduce MetroJet

Your a passenger and you are not backing anything up with facts.

What facts would that be? That every passenger in the world should think that US is the best carrier in the world?

Ever hear the expression that "perception is reality"? A passenger is free to have whatever opinion he/she wants about carrier A, B, or C. For that passenger, his/her perception is reality and doesn't have to be justified to anyone.

As for your pop quiz, I notice that you've been giving plenty of "facts" yet can't answer "yes" to most of those questions either. Do you have an A&P license? Are you an aerospace engineer? Are you an FAA inspector? Unless you can answer those all with "yes" it seems your own criteria leaves you no room to have an opinion on this subject...

I am not the one making the false claims about US and its fleet, now am I?

This is right out of 700UWs playbook whenever someone doesn't agree with him. He resorts to name calling, personal attacks and it seems lately "ignorant" is his favorite word. I guess it slipped past him that the AFA produced an industry leading contract for the Hawiian FAs that is surpassing the CO IAM contract (not to mention the IAM has been decertied at CO). If AA and USAir ultimately merge, the IAM and TWU will be the ultimate concession machine. Too bad for the workers who have the IAM forced on them.

Still not backing up your claims there Joshie.

Have you been to the USAir gates at BOS? They're in awful condition compared to the Delta terminal and AA pier in Terminal B. DCA is the same among other carriers but the US lounge could use some refurbishment. PHL is a dump too overall and a shame for your hub although the international gates aren't bad. Why does USAir have such awful facilities?

Keep avoiding the questions the whole board sees you're sham.

And the condition of a terminal has nothing to do with the condition of the planes, now does it?

I was just in DCA two weeks ago, everything is nice.

PHL was redone, and the city controls a lot of things that are in regards to the terminals in all cities.

So when are you gonna back up your claim about the planes with facts.

Come on Joshie.

Give us your technical qualifications to say the planes are antiquated.

The US 737 fleet is old and will hopefully be retired in the next few years. They've been great soldiers as have the 767s and the 75s. I love the 757. I have great memories working the 767 when they were younger. The AB320 family fleet, with the 319 being my favorite, is still young and getting younger. I wish we had IFE to offer but the fleet is still in good shape. The 330-300 and the recent Envoy Suites and IFE upgrade are much nice to work on. The 330-200 are my absolute favorites and have been a great upgrade to our overall fleet plan. And all of these planes are being tended to by the best maintenance professionals in the business.

I'm sharing this info not as one whose limited experience of the equipment we fly is limited to geographic city pairs in the northeast and south, but as one who has flown all of the various aircraft to the various regions of the world that we fly. Godspeed to all.

ebwgs the airbus fleet issuppose to be wifi equipped by endofnext yr i believe. as for the airbus 319/320/321 I love working them most of the time there only one agentin the bin as the bags are right by the door stacked. as for fleet age i am still trying to figureout josh answer to the us fleet being old vs aa

Josh explained it - average fleet age means nothing when a passenger steps on a specific airplane - try telling a DL DC-9 passenger that that DC-9 isn't old "because the average age of the fleet is only X years." The same goes for the airplane's condition - a passenger doesn't need to have all kinds of technical expertise to tell a worn out looking interior from a new one. And for 98% or more of passengers, the condition of the interior is an appropriate gauge of the condition of the airplane - after all, if an airline can't be bothered to keep the parts of the plane the passengers see up to date and in good repair why would it be bothered by less than sterling maintenance in areas which the passengers don't see?
