 And the beat goes on!!!! More exTWA heads going out the door!!!!!!

Psst, in case you didn't know all, yes all the local AAers from STL are gone. Many got laid off when TWAer part timers were working and AAers with 16 yrs were on the street. I know I was there.

<_< That's true! Good aaers will be going also! But for years STL was dominated by TWA, so sometimes I do forget that aa was there also! My appology!!!! 😉

Are you sure that he didn't mean that American Connection service was ending and that it would be replaced with Eagle?

Hope so, STL-LAX on a 70-50 seat RJ would really suck. Same with STL-SFO and STL-SEA. Not really sure how that would work with the 757's to Florida and Cancun, but never know.

I love a good rumor, especially when its this ridiculous.

In response to a question over replacing AX with AE last week, Peter Bowler said it probably wasn't in the cards, mainly due to the length of the contracts with Chautauqua, Regions, and TransStates, but also because it would mean taking aircraft away from the other Eagle hubs. There are no more aircraft on order, so anything which would either backfill Connection or mainline would require pulling down flying somewhere else.

Also, AA just handed back a bunch of surplus real estate to the city -- if AA was pulling out, the remaining leases would have been cancelled and/or handed over to Eagle.

DOUBLE PSST, But not twice the 26yr guy who was bumped to DFW. I also know 20yr guy who commutes to DFW from STL. knowing he'll never get back to STL befores he retires. I know the "at least he still has a job" scenario. All the pizzzzing and moaning ain't gonna change a thing. Its is the way it is.

Personally I would love to see AA pull up stakes at DFW, close the hub and move to STL. It seems North TX doesn't care as long as they have their Love Field and wn.

Missouri is madder at AA than North Texas is. (Check the employment levels at STL and MCI and their anger is understandable.) Why do you think Senator Bond is trying to get Missouri added to the list of Wright-approved states? Just because he likes Southwest?

All AA has to do to ward off any Wright Amendment repeal is file Chapter 7! 😀

You really think STL would turn down 4,000 almost immediate jobs plus newly created support jobs.
With several 1000's more to follow. They would move from mad to glad in a record amount of time.
corl737 as a loyal employee of WN, why do you not want to set WN free and let them fly from DFW.

Simple: SWA already serves the DFW area from an established (and paid for) facility at Love Field. DFW would have you believe that it's a simple and cheap process to stand up an operation at a new airport. It's not.

It's also plainly seen (though clouded by the media hype) that the repeal efforts are really about the costs of doing business. It is much, much cheaper to seek a repeal of the Wright Amendment thus permitting expansion at the single existing location than to split or move the operation. If AA were faced with the same situation they'd do exactly the same thing ... and I'd expect them to. That being said, if a repeal fails to materialize it is possible that a move to DFW could happen down the road. Just don't expect SWA to do that without executing their best alternative tactics first! 🙂

By the way, with the fuel expense of $7.80/minute* just to taxi a 737, every additional minute on the ground is money out the tail pipe. Perhaps DFW's extensive taxi times are exagerrated, but I guarantee that I can get to the gate at Love field within 3 minutes of touchdown 90% of the time!

*at idle power, the CFM56 burns approximately 260 gal /hr. Cost based on $1.80/gal, the price SWA pays for fuel at the pump, just like everyone else. The hedges don't do squat when we buy gas, they're nothing but a paper investment product that generates positive cash.

<_< Just for the record DFWCC---- Even though corl737 works for WN, he still has a point!! Senitor Bond is Chairmen of the Senate Transpertation Commetee! And from what I've heard, he has no love for Arpy and aa because of the way they handeled the TWA employee intragration, and aa's pull out of STL, and MCI!! Could this be another case of "What goes arround, comes arround?"
