A 16% tax in every phase of production. In this case, it might well bring in MORE, since companies can't tweak the accounting during tax time, but if you don't think companies will pass this along to the consumer (consumer being the groups down the line), you are wearing rose colored glasses. Our current system is supposedly 35%. But starting in January they deduct this and write off that and lower this and tweak that, and ship this offshore and change that...until they pay very little. 16% at every step of production would be an increase for businesses.
As for protecting the country....Cruz has already amended his plan for the individual income tax...it remained 10%,but the original plan eliminated deductions. He's changed to to allow you to claim mortgage interest. Would you be willing to forgo your interest deduction to go to paying for the defense of this country?
But you're right...he sure has talked tough about defending this country. You know...defense doesn't come cheap....and we've already got this massive debt thing that we are told is bad....how does he cut taxes, increase defense spending, deploy the military AND bring down that debt? I guess he does have a Caribbean background, so maybe some voodoo is involved.
