The Changes to Come

For those of you that believe other carriers will follow US in charging for something as simple as a soda why not go a bit further? If you have such FAITH in this management and their decisions why doesn't US raise fares then? Raise them with the all knowing faith that OTHERS WILL FOLLOW. I will eat my words when all other airlines start charging for soda and something as simple as a cup of water. What's the breaking point of selling too? Blozano purses to Florida? Swarofsky bracelets to MSY? Times are hard but that dictates that flight attendants become sales people HOW?? 🙄

I am amazed at how many people who work in the airline industry are absolutely clueless about how it works, especialy with reguard to pricing and yeild management!

Please do enlighten us oh brilliant one - we are but simple fools who lust after your wise and all knowing knowledge.

I'll second that. Enlighten us UPNAWAY...... we're listening......aaaaaaaaaaaaaad crickets **** cricket****cricket**** 🙄

Allegiant cut FAs salaries and gave them 10% of onboard sales .... Then they tried to change seniority so that those who made the most sales got the best line. The top 15 seniors walked off the job right at boarding and they reinstated the pay cut with 10% but went back to seniority for bidding ..... They not only sell beverages and cheapo snacks but stupid tourist trinkets.

Also, now everyone brings their own food and beverages and the FAs are expert Trash negotiators! Better get some good reading for those long lulls in between trash pickup on a transcon!

Initally people griped and paid for their beverages. But it wasn't long before they starting bringing their own coolers full of food and beverages and one would be hard-pressed to sell 5 sodas on a 2 hour flight.

Then there is the logistics of the whole beverage fiasco. Does anyone know how they are going to keep the soft beverages inventoried? I'm talking from commissary to truck to airplane. We don't even have the ability to keep liquor under control and THEY come inboard in kits. How about the 737,757 and 767 beverage carts on the east? Turn your back and a passenger will just swipe a can. This is so stupid I almost feel sorry that we have people so dumb that they believe this will work. I will comp my heart out. Your cute..wanna coke? Your a hottie...wanna sprite? 🙄 My goodness this is a joke. I can see it now, "Mr XXXXX your soda count was off AGAIN". Oh well maybe a few cans popped out of the cart during turbulence.

Evidently no one in the Sand Castle knows either.......

What I dont get is why does US have to copy every little fee done by other airlines. I mean I can understand instituting the bag fee and a few others. But maybe just maybe say "Hey the drinks will still be free" and do something that the other airlines aren't and maybe keep some customers happy for return business. Not everything has do be so BRASH!

BRASH--it's the HP way! doug disguises this as being "aggressive". 🙄

with respect to copying...copying is a tool, indeed the only tool, for those devoid of talent and innovation.

as in the past, they made zero effort to insulate the fflyers from this assault. at the very least, they should have mailed unlimited drink vouchers to vfflyers and announced that initiative in yesterday's media release.

$7 bucks for a party cup of bumwine, nearly doubling the non-rev fees for employees, award redemption fees and eliminating the bonus miles program for Preferred status, etc.

In the race to the bottom, Tempe has managed to demonstrate how much the hold employees, Kettles and FFs in contempt in just one day.

Trifecta!

You hit the nail on the head! Great minds think alike: 😉

What? Have you been to the gas station lately? You have got to be kiddin'.....

Fuel cost alone for US up 1.9 billion, that's a fact. Why are people not able to wrap their heads around that?

And people are hoping that other airlines don't follow.... Wait, we are following other airlines: AA, Spirit, etc....

They will all be following within the week....

When you look at - all of the US airlines do the same thing - the real problem is that there is no one running a US airline that has any idea what to do and how to make the business model profitable so they just do what the other guy does. The recent article in USA Today on BA was quite interesting - they actually changed their model and differentiated themselves from other carriers - and now have a 10% profit margin - the highest of all European airlines I believe.

But alas - there is no one in US Airline Mgt - and especially at US Airways - that has any idea what to do.
