Tried, convicted sentenced and executed without even a charge or an opportunity to give our side. This is TWU Democracy at work?
No mention of Title II or Stores.Not only do they not have a voice in this either but they refuse to even recognize their existance.
Sad.
Clearly retaliation, the Five Locals being dissolved all voted against the contract so they are dissolving them.
Now that King Don has his UBI to dispense as he sees fit he will have his unelected, appointed minions to do as he sees fit anywhere in the system and only have to deal with one Line President.
All the arguements they are trying to spin would apply equally to the FSC system as well.
Normally Charters are only revoked for cause.
There were no charges against any of the Locals, at least not public.
Yet in absentia we were basically put on trial, convicted, sentenced and executed without any chance to respond.

frup can you explain this in a bit more detail? I get the basics of what you arer saying I but do not fully understand the mechanics of it.

The International decided to revoke the Charters of Locals 561, 562, 563, 564, 565 and 529 and put all the Line mechanics in a new Local 591. They didnt say what they are doing with the Title II or Title V guys yet.

It really is true that there is no difference between TWU and AA Management. Seems they emulate each other often, right now AA Management is combining docks and shops, while TWU is combining Locals. I think James C. Little is a management plant and has been since he jumped over from AA Supervisor.
I can't speak for any other local but in a way I'm glad they are getting rid of 561. These guys are in bed with management down here allowing everyday our contract to be violated!

This pretty much sums up what is wrong with the TWU......... WHEREAS, President James C. Little, in accord with his authority under Article
V, Section 1, provided an interpretation of the TWU Constitution dated January 4, 2013 (the
“President’s Constitutional Interpretation&rdquo😉 (copy attached), by which he determined that the IEC
has the authority to restructure TWU Locals, including a restructuring of the type described in
the Subcommittee Report and this IEC Resolution, see below, and to provide for the officer
election process described below; and,
WHEREAS, under Article Viii, Section 2 of the TWU Constitution, the IEC
“shall be the supreme authority in the International Union,” except during an International
Convention; and,

Well Chuck resigned before this was announced, and the execution of the Locals doesnt take place till April 1 I'm guessing so the answer is not yet. I guess you could call it a RIF, but we can "reapply for a position" in 591!

Consolidation for TWU means the international has even less local officers to oversee and even more control. At least that is my theory. Anybody disagree?
