What's new

the great power grab

Consolidation for TWU means the international has even less local officers to oversee and even more control. At least that is my theory. Anybody disagree?

No disagreement here.

And with Dons Bootlicker clause instead of having elected officers in the five hubs who are off the clock and not accountable to him now he will have people on "UBI" who are appointed by him on various "committees" like Chris Oryano, who are paid by the company.

The purpose is to make the elected officials irrelevant and have everyone go through somebody working for and accountable to Don and Bobby Gless if they want to keep their gig.

They are trying to make it as autocratic as the Teamsters but without the $53/hr pay, vacation, sick time, Holidays, workrules and pension.

That is adsurb, how are the members going to be represented and attend meetings when their local is in another city or state?

Time for AA mechanic and related to wake up.

Or is there a deal if their is a merger to have AA's M&R go IAM and the ramp go to the TWU.

Oh my precious in Tulsa and elsewhere.......Do we finally see what this portends? Wait til we begin negotiating our next contract and We have just three voices for Mech and related, and fleetservice has several to push through what ever oversped highspeed steel contract proposal!

Punitive Jim is basking in his full glory now......."His interpretation of the Internationals constitution" How Convienient......I wonder if columbia state university sent a law degree along with the other 2 bogus degrees?

Now is the time to inundate the AMFA commitee with signed cards for a change in representation.

The International Trumpets saving Jobs, while attending to their princely trappings of office. "A" pass use from the company to themselves and family??? Isnt this just a bit too cozy for someone that should have an adversarial relationship with the company in our behalf......That Fight like HELL smoke was quite convincing. NEWSFLASH.......The jobs were never at risk......just a scare tactic........ohmy oh my ooooooh myyyy.........The company had to have the Baker letter recinded????? why ???? To give little Jim the wherewithall to spank the Union presidents out of office and crush honest dissention? like UBP was going to break the company........I think the International self interest requested this to control us even further.

This current system of representation is corrupt and self serving.........Lets change that.......Stand for something....Please sign a card and begin the process to breathe free air again.....Imagine a union of Automotive/Facility/ and Aircraft mechanics????? The company fears this more than the pilots.....Real power and dignity for a job that is done 24hrs a day 365 a year in all sorts of weather and conditions.

There really werent any savings from pulling UBB, because they replaced it with UBI, instead of elected officials getting it, Don gets to hand pick who gets it. So where are the savings? Pulling UBB was Don working with the company to try and squash all the Presidents he could not control. Management told me not to bid a shift in the fall, I thought I had to return to the floor on Sept 12, they told me that I didnt, something was going on with the union so I would not need to come back till Dec, two weeks later the ATD dumps out their reorganization plan, management knew before we did!!!

Seems like a dumb move during a card drive.

Could the disbanded locals make a case for DFR here?

If you guys keep the TWU after this, well.... Nah, not gonna finish that thought.

You dont have too, we know what your thinking. Too bad the weak minded sheep in Tulsa will never stand up and fight.

This is the most pathetic Union I have ever been associated with period.I have said this from day one in Tulsa. It's down right embarrassing.I had better representation at Safeway, and you know I never needed any union for that matter.
I worked hard treated people right. It was all was fine. Now we are stuck in this quagmire of AA bullshit.

I guess by Now,.. FINALLY,...Everyone knows why AMR..wanted to 'get out' of New York, knowing Full Well the TWU-ATD would follow them into the UNION STRONGHOLD's of Oklahoma and TEX-ASS !

(Whooops. I almost forgot to throw FLORIDA into the 'mix' as well) !

Jesus, I mean...there's got to be a way...to combine ALL the Anti-TWU line votes, with the Anti-TWU votes that DO Exist in OK/TX and FL, or am I describing a Pipe-Dream ? ?

Seems the international could give themselves another pay raise now, and it will also put stewarts back to their boxes and not doing U/B, benefits both sides of the this pro company Union, ....the co.and this piss poor union,.....guys this has to stop and now!

Could be but for the IAM that would NOT be such a great deal. Mechanics are more of a flight risk than Fleet. When is the last time you saw a FSC group fire their union and go with another? When is the last time there was even an attempt? Mechanics do it occasionally and have drives going pretty regularly. If the IAM stepped aside on the other work groups they would still likely face a challenge for M&R from either the IBT or AMFA, and with bottom of the industry contracts they would lose to either and end up out of the airline industry for M&R and possibly face a raid by the IBT over at UAL for their FSCs. They would then be well on their way out of the airline industry entirely.

I would tell everyone to go at least on hand pay but the TWU has put all the existing hand payers back on checkoff.
Without consent of the employee.
No one to my knowledge, including myself, has been taken off of hand pay and there will be a major throwdown if it occurs.

They will do what they want. They always have. If you guys were AMFA, the membership would vote on National raises (as we have in the past), as well as all kinds of other inner workings of the union. This kind of behavior will continue until the majority of the membership fires the TWU and brings in AMFA. The teamsters are 10 times worse than your currrent TWU represention. I'm telling you guys, you will be overwhelmed on how much participation is required from the membership when you vote AMFA in. The membership will run the union and vote on everything from committee members to how much your local can spend each month without a membership vote. YES, it's true. Local members will have to vote on a set dollar amount that the local can spend monthly without membership vote. Example; our local 11 cannot spend any more than 300.00 bucks without a membership vote. If they want to spend more, they must call for a vote at a monthly meeting. None of this rapid spending like the teamsters do with their money laundering sceams...
Until you guys deside to do something about it, the TWU will do whatever they want. It's time for you guys to get involved and fire your union. Say it loud and say it proud when you vote. It is comming guys. So be prepared. 2013 looks to be a new start for the AA mechanics. Good luck to you all. Go AMFA!!!

Well Chuck resigned before this was announced, and the execution of the Locals doesnt take place till April 1 I'm guessing so the answer is not yet. I guess you could call it a RIF, but we can "reapply for a position" in 591!
And continue to waste your effort
