The New Buddypass System Sucks!

My parents fly quite often...on my pass....on my seniority. I don't think it would break me, or them to spring for 15 bucks when they travel. More of a concern is sending your teens off on a trip with NO seniority, and a different boarding priority. It sux that family memebers not with the employee are now classified differently.

But....I guess its something that we'll have to deal with. Nobody likes change, as is quite evident with all the crying and whinning on this board. Its funny how employees blame employers for the division in work groups, when in reality it is the emplyees who create the division....atleast on this board they do.

But...everybody is entitledd to their own opinion....no matter how f*$#@d up and jaded it may be.

I think family members traveling alone SHOULD have a lower priority. It's not right that an employee would get bumped by a non-employee!

Its nice to here from a person that might not be happy with a part of the new pass system but under stands that it's all some times about give and take and a happy medium. Thanks for the good post.

They might be crap to you, but not to me. My parents use them for free passes, I use them for first class upgrades , SA1Ps and my friends use them for buddypasses. It might be crap to you, but it's not to some of us.

Well Mr. selfish.............I've always had only 8 passes and my parent traveled for FREE!!!! Now, they have to pay! You think you are the only one that is being effected??? Grow up chicken little, the sky isn't falling on you or anyone else. Changes are going to be a plenty, some for the better and some for the worse. Let me ask you this...could your parents fly to Europe? They can now...so shut it!!

MED CHECK

More like reality check!! I am so tired of AWA employees crying over getting screwed. WE ARE ALL GOING TO BE EFFECTED BY THIS MERGER!!!! Not just AWA employees. I have never met such a bunch of narrow minded self centered people in my life on this forum. I know this isn't the norm for AWA emplyees, because I have many friends at AWA. They are mostly great people and not these cry babies. Bash me all you want, but it is true on here.

Wasn't bashing you, just responding to your crude post. Open your eyes and you will see that most of the crap that is started has been by our own people, not by AWA. Tensions are running high on both sides because none of us knows what is going on, which causes people to speculate, which in turn causes more tension.

Nobody likes to deal with the unknown, especially when it involves your future and the future of your families. Show a little tolerance, and maybe just a tad of respect for what people are going through.

Nothing to do with respect. I cannot respect temper tantrums like they had. THEY need see that they are NOT the only ones being effected. Bottom line. Most of us WILL NOT respect attitudes like that.

o my gosh... I just would like to let you know that when I first found out about this website and logged on for the first time, it shocked the daylights out of me...... I could not believe how people were talking to one another.. People that were going to eventually work together, day in and day out..... I started to deal with the fact that AWA was no longer going to exist and looked forward to working with new people. And then I started reading these forums and the U employee's started scarin' the crap out of me... And then I went to the AWA forum, and my own coworkers attitudes shocked me.I now know that most of the people's views and attitudes on this forum do not represent all employees, but I'll tell ya, those first few hours of reading were horrible. Looking foward to meeting you all someday here in PHX.......
......Hope everyone has a great day....................................................

I definitely don't disagree with you . .many people (from both "former" companies) on here have been known to throw tantrums. I have seen HP people whine about losing benefits & seniority integration users. I have also seen lots of US people really whine about the "possiblity" of non-rev going to DOH.

Everyone needs to realize that there WILL be changes--be grateful we have jobs & great benefits. Unforutantely, the people that whine on here will probably let that negativity carry over ot their jobs. I hope they don't

That is the fun of the Internet and message boards. We can say things to people that we would never dream of saying in person. Complete anonymity. 😛h34r:

When you get on this board you have to think of it as discussing family business with family. We are all brothers and sisters with our own opinions. Don't take it personally, and just join the fun!

I said the same thing in a different thread, but it seems to need repeating. You people who are complaining about the changes to the pass policy need to step back and be thankful you will still HAVE flying benefits, or jobs for that matter. There are many people who are (involuntarily) out of jobs as a result of this merger and who will be shown the door with hardly anything to show for it.

A few flexi-passes here and there, DOH vs time of check-in, blah blah blah are all far cries from the unemployment line, eh?

I also don't like the reduction in buddy passes. It's a negative for my parents, and for me being able to upgrade to first class. But keep in mind--it IS just a benefit.

Instead of dwelling on the negative, be grateful we get to fly for free (and our relatives who do not work for the airline get to fly VERY cheap) to begin with.

We are still in the business to make money--having a very small fee for parents makes sense. Yes, the seat would be empty anyway, but extra weight incurs an extra fuel burn. Let's say an additional person incurs an extra burn of 20 pounds of fuel, which is about 3 gallons. Not a lot of extra gas, but that still costs $6. Will the company miss that $6? Probably not, but it all adds up!

If non-airline employees don't think airline employees are a bunch of whiners after reading about unions bickering on here--they certainly will if we constantly complain about what we don't have with our flight benefits.
