How are you a US Airways F/A of three years? We haven't hired since 2001.

I was origionally with America West and went through 'the merge'.

UAL is hiring and the bases for new hires can be DCA-ORD-JFK-LAX-SFO-BOS... London might be open soon for new hires the rate the stews are leaving there because of the departure tax is so high. They just put transfer to LHR 50 and only 5 accepted. Thursday they put another 50 through and we will see this Thursday how many will go. Many are leaving London and going to fly for KLM to get paid in EUROS instead of USA dollars. You will fly International at UAL ON RESERVE. The company loves to give the INTL trips to new hires to save money by not paying a senior flight attendant. It's one of the scam that ual gets away with from the union. No Joke. Just go to www.united.com/flightattendant and apply

Ew, well get out while you can! Your seniority means nothing after the merger happens so you may as well be a new hire somewhere else. Plus you'll get to experience working for a real airline, as opposed to Trailer West.

Laugh

AWA is the worst of all airlines

i am a us f/a .been there 10 yrs based in phl. if i could do it all over again i would go to continental. they seem to have their #### together and fly everywhere . they have a young workforce as well. united is a messed up airline maybe not as messed up as airways is but they are not the cream of the crop anymore. try continental first then go to united . that's my opinion .

CO, is the best now. I spoke with a new hire 6months at CO though in PDX< she is based in HOU and hates working at CO in HOUSTON though. She says she is thinking of quiting already.. You are right on CO though they are now the best.
United will be ok as long as we stay away from USAIRWAYS and AWA mess. Delta was smart by not letting that merge happen. THANK GOD. I feel sorry for the Real Usairways employees. I dont feel sorry for the AWA people. AWA reminds me of Airtrans... laugh

Hey, thanks! I'm an original USAir employee. Just pray to God that should a merger go thru, which I hope for UA sake it does not, Parker is not the CEO. He and his boys in Tempe were born and raised in a trailer park and it shows. Everything done on the cheap, service levels in the toilet, hiring from the ghetto. We were praying the DL thing didn't go thru either, as we did not want him to destroy them too! Good Luck To All Of Us!

Can someone shed some light on how the LHR base works? If i am an American citizen, are there alot of hassels in being based in LHR(paperwork to work in the UK,taxes, living arrangements, etc)

I am a US FA with 10 years and have always wanted to be based in LHR if a merger with UA ever happened. You never know.

A friend of mine said they may have to put new hires in LHR, they needed 50 there and no one bit because the dollar sucks. My girl donttouchthebeauty can probably help you more though.

Ever since United's bankruptcy, the company had not put any transfers through to the foreign bases other than for the flight attendants who were displaced from Taipei, Paris, and Santiago upon those base closures. In recent weeks, the company has awarded nearly 100 transfers to LHR. I know 3 flight attendants who have personally accepted their transfer award to London.

A reason for the recent transfer awards is that the LHR base has been losing flight attendants who were based there, but who commuted from east coast cities. LHR has a prohibitively expensive departure tax, and flight attendants who jumpseat to and from LHR, must also pay. Additionally, the dollar is rather weak against the British pound at the moment, which makes LHR a very expensive place in which to be based.

Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see transfer movement after so many years of being closed to transfers.

Here's a suggestion! Knock on Southwest's door in BWI. They have a FA base and constantly hiring new ones. Good Luck!
