Well, currently the systems are still seperate. They don't merge completely until March/April of next year. So there is still US metal and HP metal. I still get paid by America West. Etc, etc etc.

yes my tiny paycheck still comes from america west. but, if you get a travel voucher for bumping from a flight that says america west, can you use it on an east flight?
On another note, was in vegas the other day and the gate agents were announcing an oversold flight....offering vouchers for ANYWHERE US flies.....since when did we start giving free positive space to Europe? Or was the gate agent just dumb?

You can use a 401 voucher on US and an 037 voucher on HP.
The RTFCs are now divided by Regions/$ amounts.
Not sure of the exact regions without looking at one, but something like this depening on what flight segment you took a bump on....
Region 1 Domestic Continental 48 or $200
Region 2 Region 1 plus Canada or $300
Region 3 Region 1/2 plus Caribbean/Hawaii/Alaska or $400
Region 4 Region 1/2/3 plus Europe or $500.
(These arent the actual regions or amounts, but it is similar to the sliding scale provided)
It makes things a lot easier than having to chose the Free ticket or the $ off. Customers do not have to decide until they book the ticket. If they cant find the X seats, then they can book the cheapest flights and get the $ off. Worse case scenario, you get a $200 voucher for bumping.
The agent in LAS was wrong. They arent even good for Continental US/Canada like they used to be.

Are you sure you are the right kind of customer for USairways? Its an LLC airline - you might be willing to pay too much! 🙂

At least the new bump vouchers are done electronically. No more trips to the airport for ticketing.

Good question. The new vouchers started in PHX last week, I'm not sure if is system wide yet. As you know communication is not our strong point.

You are correct.
1) Dollar amount vouchers issued by either HP or US may be used to discount the cost of a ticket flown on either carrier across the system.
2) Complimentary round trip flight credits (RTFC - issued for voluntary/involuntary bumps) may only be exchanged for tickets within the same region of travel as the original flight the passenger was bumped from. The RTFC ticket is booked in the same fare basis/class of service as a standard 25,000 mile Dividend Miles award ticket, and is virtually useless unless you are extremely flexible with your future travel plans.
3) Domestic RTFC vouchers may be exchanged through customer relations for a $200 travel voucher which may then be applied to any published fare ticket to any market that US Airways flies. They cannot be used for code share and *A ticket purchases. Don't know if the value increases for other regions such as transatlantic/caribbean.
Hope this clears things up.
They dont have to exchange them thru customer relations if they are the "new new" vouchers. They are supposed to be able to just be exchanged at the airport and eventually will be electronic. Right now there are only a few cities that actually issue the new electronic voucher. Many of us are still stuck in the olden days with paper docs. :down: 😛h34r:
When you bump now you are supposed to be given a pamphlet that explains the voucher and how to use them. Since they've changed them a couple times since merger, not sure if every station has the latest version. Remember back a while ago when we had someone post something here about not being told that seats were limited with the bump ticket and it was a big problem? (It actually is a problem more often than not). Anyway, having a pamplet explaning how to use the bump ticket was suggested, but turned down by the old US side for some reason. The HP side has been using it at least since we started working them back a year ago Sept.
Its also nice to give customers the option of the free ticket if they can find the seats, or money off if they have to have a specific flight. Takes away a lot of the problems customers had when trying to use them (especially booking a week before a holiday, hello....?) 😉
Vouchers, such as those issued for residual amounts on exchanged tickets, can be used on codeshare flights as long as there is a US or HP flight number assigned to the flight operated by someone else. I've used such vouchers many times on flights operated by UA.
US Airways denied boarding vouchers are divided into 3 regions....may be used for a free roundtrip in that region or a specific dollar value towards the purchase of a future US Airways ticket. Region 2 or 3 vouchers may be used for a region 1 ticket, if you so choose.
Region 1=contigious 48 states only or $200.00 off
Region 2=Carribean/Central America/Canada or $300.00 off
Region 3=Europe/Alaska/Hawaii or $400.00 off
