My wife and her friends flew to Aruba on US Airways. Her short response: lousy service.

The flight attendants spent twice as much time hawking credit cards, cigarettes, purses, toys, etc. as providing service. Their guess is that it is US Airway's new method of keeping costs down on beverage service: "No, you can't have another soda--but how about a credit card?"

US Airways sucks... And?

Did you honestly think US Airways was going to be Southern bells and Georgian peaches?

If you don't like their service, then don't fly them. I find the US Airways service fine. So, I will continue to fly with US.

I've been on the second leg of that trip more than once and know the routine well. They hawk the credit card, they hawk the duty free, they hawk the buy on board meals and they usually make one beverage service. Sometimes they make a second service. The crew that works the Saturday morning flight out of PHL has been better than the CLT-AUA crews in my experience. I'm pretty sure the PHL crew has been the same every time I've been on the flight.

I have no sympathy...it is not going to make any difference soon as oil is headed up to $200 per barrel. I hope you are all getting ready for whats coming.

Southwest doesn't fly to AUA. But fly them to Europe, too. They are the Messiah. *rolls eyes*

Why did you even post this? If you don't like their service then don't fly them. You are a pilot for goodness sake. Why didn't you just fly your own wife over there? Or do you not make enough money to do that?

I've flown other airlines and found that Southwest had lousy service and Air Tran had lousy service but I don't go to airline employee websites and trash other airlines.
Quit being so darn cheap and buy yourself a soda next time you fly so you won't be so thirsty.
If that's the worst thing that happened to you on your vacation and you are bitching about someong hawking a credit card then you really, really need to get a life.

I'm pretty sure the PHL crew has been the same every time I've been on the flight.

Well, I'm not sure if Loopie (sp?) still flies that flight, but she is wonderful. I really like her. She used to fly the A position.

As far as WN--WN provides superior customer service. They are friendly, efficient, and they always treat me well. CO treats me well, too, but when comparing WN coach to other legacy Y products, WN wins hands down. Admittedly, I have not had any IRROPS so I'm not sure WN would be superior in that case, but I've enjoyed flying them over the past 1 1/2 years. I am almost shocked and stunned sometimes as good as they treat me.

US Airways is a low cost carrier, you get what you pay for. We do not have the supply surplus onboard to provide 2 beverage services per flight, down and back. We are only provisioned round trip and only receive ice and meals in certain stations. It is not about purposely providing a shoddy service, but working with the resources we have. Please do not insult us, some of us do try to make the best of what we do have to work with. Selling Duty Free is one of the remaining small incentives we have left. Many passengers enjoy purchasing Duty Free on board and look forward to that portion of the flight. Please contact customer relations with any dissatisfaction of our standard inflight service and not complain about the flight attendants. Like I said, we work with what the company provides us.

the FA was hawking cigarettes? yeah right 🙄

Yes, cigarettes. It's called Duty Free, and one of the biggest sellers in cartons of Marlboros and Marlboro Lights. US Airways has cartons of cigarettes, liquor, fragrances, and other items available for purchase tax free on all transatlantic flights and most Carribbean flghts. Onboard Duty Free sales are done on pretty much every international carrier, and have been on US since they began international service. It's a popular benefit for international travelers.

The problem with US is that it gets lost in the sea of everything else US is trying to hawk... credit cards, tray table ads, fees... this is the airline that tried to sell water. On top of that, it's well known that it can be a mixed bag whether or not you will get the correct amount of beverage services for the flight and there will be no IFE provided regardless of the length of the flight. US has a knack for inconsistency, and giving the impression that the customer is a nuisance. Even when the employee is providing helpful and friendly service, the overall "product" US offers gives that impression and is indeed, lousy.

A customer has every right to comment on the service provided by a service provider. The attitude toward the original poster is everything that is wrong with US Airways (HP version), from the top down.
