I was informed by an imformer today that the TWU is now concerned about the number of mechanics signing authorization cards. They passed out a survey and claim to finally now be ready to communicate with the members and change to meet the members needs. AMFA once again, creates a positive for the membership.

One worker asked when the next election for TWU officers was to be held and the poor informer didn't even know this information. It is sad that the TWU sends unsuspecting members unarmed into the shops and docks to be blasted with the frustrations created by the dictators. The dictators should be required to shoulder the blame for their own mess and not use scape goats as the targets.

I understand the TWU Tulsa Leadership has now acknowledged that the Line Mechanics are all favoring AMFA and that Tulsa is the last battleground. Fact is that now USAIR also has enough cards signed to call for an election and AMFA will there also.

United Airlines - AMFA
Southwest Airlines - AMFA
Northwest Airlines - AMFA
Alaska Airlines - AMFA
Horizon Airlines - AMFA
Mesaba Airlines - AMFA
Atlantic Coast - AMFA
ATA - AMFA

USAIR - Soon to be AMFA

AA- TWU with 42% AMFA cards
signed

Who is leading the industry?

There is only one way to resolve this dispute and unite as a union. Sign those cards, demand a debate, and then vote for change. The TWU is once again attempting to deceive the members that change is in the air. Funny thing, the only time the TWU is ready to listen to the members is when AMFA is breathing down their necks.

Stop the charade, vote for real change, VOTE AMFA!

Ask your informer, if the AMFA is doing such a poor job at NWA and the TWU is superior, then why is there NOT a TWU Card Drive occurring and NWA? Should the TWU be up there saving those members from themselves? Because the TWU concessions jobs program is not as popular as the TWU leaders want the Kool-Aid drinkers in Tulsa to believe! The TWU sucks so bad there is not one group of mechanics in the industry interested in their outdated, dicatatorship representaion.

Tulsa Local Officers have claimed the TWU International is conduxting the phone survey that Mr. Owens is hearing about.

The Tulsa Local survey is nothing more than pathetic joke on papaer designed to make the member feel they are being listened to and a chance to air their grievances to the leaders.

The interesting result is the increased card signing and open support for AMFA in Tulsa now that the Local has acknowledged their fears.

The Local Officers told those in training the AMFA had taken over the line stations and that the line mechanics HATE the Tulsa mechanics. They also claim that AMFA has more than three system local president positions.

I,ve been apoproached by several members about phone surveys that are being conducted.

Here we go again, you guys are pathetic! You make stuff up with halftruths and than you show your stupidity by claiming you did not know about the phone survey or make things up to suit your fancy at the time.

The phone survey was conducted last month and out of this, several good comments were made. One of the items was the fact a written survey is now being done in the system for the locals who wish to help their members and not sit on this site complaining.

I see a little fear coming from you . The key is, the TWU cares and has done a lot to help the members and will continue to do so in the future as you amfa wantabes continue to destroy our Industry. Don't give your rhetoric about higher pay! Simple fact, if you do not have a job it does not matter.

What is it now? unlimited farmout rights at 5 amfa represented airlines now or 6 It is hard to count since Akaska farms out over 70% of their work now thanks to amfa. I read an article on the front page of this site saying over 50 % is now being done and it is strange that the highest percentage of this is coming from the Airlines amfa represents! What a pathtic record. Keep spreading your lies! the truth is out there.

The Majority at the Bases understand if they support amfa they are saying goodby to thier jobs! This is the simple truth and amfa record shows this!

TWU SOLIDARITY!

Let's see.."several good comments"? Out of what 15,000 in the craft and class you generated "several" good comments? Congratulations.

And let's see, the TWU gave away 3500 jobs of folks who had job security, and now, Jim Little is begging AA not to elminate those TWA employees who still, even after a negotiation session and new contract for 6 years DO NOT HAVE JOB SECURITY protection? CIO, let's wait about 6 more months and see how many jobs your TWU Industry Leading Concessions really saved.

What specifically has the TWU done lately to "help the members"?

If not fear on your part, then why the anti-AMFA training?

The only thing I really fear is your Local Kangaroo Court. That seems to stop the AMFA drive everytime! Let's get it going!

Based on what we seen lately, your "informers" should be called as Bob Owens pointed out earlier "Company Informants".

Checking it out:

You often refer to the fact that AMFA represented airlines have contracted out the most work. Why is that when AA is slashing jobs as they have done and now with STL and probably MCI, you have no response? You blame AMFA when their respective airlines get rid of the work, but you don''t blame the TWU at AA.

Hopeful,
AMFA has allowed outsourcing during better economic times.

With AMFA as long as you've got some time with the company you'll do ok but if your junior you might as well say good bye to working in the airline industry forever. How junior is junior? Depends on how much AMFA allows the company to outsource.

The IAM and the TWU on the other hand are dealing with Airlines that are either in bankruptcy (U&UA) or are on the verge of filing (AA) chapter 11.

Its a completely different ballgame when you've got a bankruptcy judge making sure the company gets what they want like United and US Air did. The TWU saw that and knew if American went into BK the pay cuts and job's loss would have been much worst than what your experiencing now.

If you think AMFA is a far more superior union then why havent they been able to stop management at Northwest from using force majeure and laying off an additional 150 mechanics? Truth is AMFA is doing (or should be doing)what any other union would be able to do... take the company to court and try to prove NW is taking advantage of a loop hole in the contract.

AMFA mechanics at NW are making more money at the present time because the company hasnt started pressuring its unions for concessions. How long do you think thats going to last especially after so many other major carriers have recieved concessions from their employees?

Tell us how the TWU would have stopped AA from invoking "force majuere" if that is the path they chose to take? It is in the labor agreement and I would like you to tell us how you "stop" that, oh yeah, you give up $620 Million per year and 3500 employee's job security provisions, and then post about a "superior victory" on the internet and shop floor. ROFLMAO

"take the company to court "? What about the labor agreement and the grievance procedure? The Judge would just send them out of court to comply with their contract.

Here is the update that shows what AMFA is doing about these issue you bring up:

THERE ARE SCHEDULED ARBITRATION HEARINGS OVER THE FORCE MAJEURE's LAYOFFS AND THE FIRST HEARING IS AUGUST 14th.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO SAY WHEN AMFA WINS THESE ARBITRATIONS AND THE NWA MECHANICS ARE BACK TO WORK MAKING YOUR OLD PAYSCALE AND STILL HAVE THEIR VACATION AND HOLIDAYS IN PLACE?

I am glad to see that you acknowledge that the TWU Industry Leading Concessions will cause other cariers to pressure their unions for pay/benefit reductions. What I cannot figure it out, is why you appear so proud of this fact.

If you think the TWU is the superior union, then what is the current TWU Authorization Card Count at ANY AMFA represented carrier?
6942 Total Signed Election Authorization Cards is the current AMFA card count at AA.
