"take the company to court "? What about the labor agreement and the grievance procedure? The Judge would just send them out of court to comply with their contract.

Not nessessarily. This is how amfa''s inexperience lack of REAL lawyers wrecks mechanics lives. In the ATL case they should have immediatly gone into Federal court and get an injunction against NWA to halt the closure of their maint base. When I was in the IBT we had management try and change our medical plan into an HMO. The IBT went into court got an injuction to stop the change, the judge then had the parties file a grivance and declare it deadlocked on the spot. He then ordered Management and IBT into expedited arbitration so it was settled within a matter of weeks. This is what a court can do. Speed up you normally slow contractual grivance procedure.

Why is it the amfa supporters must bash everything every other union does and cannot point to anything positive amfa has done? Amfa has been around now since 1998 when they took over at Alaska and what have they accomplished? NOTHING! Lots of Hot air, bluster and big talk, but no action. They used to tell us how they were going to strike NWA if they didn''t get their 100% retro. Instead they rolled over when the going got tough and took the company''s offer. Same thing at Alaska. Lots of big talk but NO action! Isn''t it interesting how the hot amfa air is back now that the AA mechanics has signed a prebankrupcy concessionary deal. I sure didn''t see any around when we signed our 2001 contract that blew theirs away! They kind of just slinked away. Now that their card drive is drying up the only thing they can do now is cause trouble by creating their "straw man" argument that the TUL mechanics hate line stations and crap like that. Great move amfa, lets turn mechanic against mechanic!

And how long has the TWU been around?

The TWU is a BUS UNION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heir RV4,

The NW AMT''s must really feel special knowing the president of their union is going to give them $1000.00 to help *try* to get their jobs back.

slug,

What is the TWU doing to help the 3500 members who had their job security lifted without further ratification?
