TWU Chapter 11 - AA 1113 Filing

You are still blaming Bob Owens! The majority of union members voted to turn the proposed contract down. A whole lot of people didn't like it; I see that you are not blaming them

I seem to remember in the past, that you have posted on this board that you would not go out on strike if the TWU called for one..

Oh faithful union brother!
A lot of the sheep follow their "leadership" blindly. When your "leadership" tells you how to vote, it has a big affect on the outcome. Using the term "leadership" loosely, of course... <_<

On November 29th, 2011, Bob Owens' stratgey of using the NMB request for release as leverage blew up in his face.
Bob is not to blame for the Bankruptcy, Management is, however Bob is to be blamed for a failed union negotiating strategy that will now leave thousands losing their jobs.

His strategy screwed me personally out of $16,000.0 plus, and now my co-workers work will be outsourced and they will be laid-off. Given my seniority, I will still be employed, but I would have preferred to take the raises and try to save the work. Now all of the concessions of T/A will come to pass and maybe more, while thousands will lose their jobs.

There was an alternative placed before us. We voted, Bob lead the NO VOTE!

There is a delicate balance between greed and job protection, Bob failed to recognize that fact. With the laws and political stacked against us, he was determined to fight with a weak army and no weapons.
WOW ! Bob had nothing to do with the overwhellming no vote!It was after people read the T/A, everyone realized how bad it really was !Stop trying to rewrite History.

Maybe you are right, but I doubt one person viewed this video over 5000 times.

And even after the NO VOTE, Bob Owens had considerable influence on the stratgey after the TWU International backed off and let the NO VOTERS have at it to get a better deal.

you really need to get a grip and move on to other issues. The No voters voted NO because of the content of the TA and not because Bob Owens told them to. It's over Informer. Let's wait and see what the future brings in the next few weeks. Maybe it's not paranoia but fear and you have a right to be afraid but don't harp on something that's long gone........please!

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why the NY locals would vote NO! 30.00 in Tul is like 15.00 in NY

Go watch the video if you think that was his reasoning.
Watch all 4 parts not just part 1

He is Pres of NY local and I think they like his representation seeing he was voted back in after INTERNATIONAL tried to get rid of him.
He is not your typical TWU Lemming, thats why he appeals to people accross system.

Out of respect and as requested I will not disclose my source about this matter. But everyone can be assured this is not paranoia, and I believe there is more to come on this issue.

Paranoia is self generated and this is not the case here as I was informed not manipulated.
Maybe the company may propose something like that but I have not been involved in secret discussions with the other line Presidents nor have I heard anything other than whats been on here about red circling line stations. Whoever "informed" you gave you bad information.

Why in the world would you tell the company it's ok to hire new people while people like me were unemployed and I had a hard time feeding my family. Why couldn't they recall us with DOH until seniority was settled. At least we would of had a paycheck coming in. Hiring off the street was a slap in the face and this is why there is hatred in the company. We are all supposed to be union brothers it e seniority issue was settled.doesnt matter what union were in and were supposed to stand up for each other. This is not about AA/TWA it's about Sticking together and look out for each other. TWU standing with the company hurt us. By the way The Eastern guys that stayed with US did get there DOH seniority in 2005 and there is no animosity among us because it was the right thing to do.
You did not get what I was saying, we said it was wrong to hire guys who were not from TWA, to settle the seniority issue later and just give them DOH till then, it's better than being on the street and wrong to hire people who think they have permanent jobs when they knew that once the TWA guys came over the company would lay them off.

It's not about blame, it's about accountability. Bob made it clear that he needed the "hammer" of a potential strike to get a better deal, he stated he wanted one Local like McDaniel so he could make all the decisions if he was President, he stated that AA has not asked to outsource OH and not to worry about that happening in BK, that BK was a scare tactic, that the International lied about the potential for BK, that retiree medical was being given up in the TA, etc... Bob owns those comments and should be fully accountable for them.

Bob, would like your thoughts on the following 1).AMR notified the courts that they were making a pension payment of 6 million dallors,of course that amounts was way short of what was needed for the 4 pensions on Jan 31,2012. 2) Sharon Levine one of the lawyer's for the TWU International held a DFW conference at a hotel near by for employees to ask questions about what was coming in the future. 3) If section's talks on the contract amendments are OK'ed by the TWU and AA will there be a vote to membership on the amendments or will it just be decided by the Creditors,Judge Lane,AMR. 4) TWU local 512 held a townhall meeting with The Advancement Group to discuss the options on the pension if it goes PBGC,or hard freeze. 5) ORD TWU local's announcement on senority is frozen and system transfers frozen due to pending lay-offs system wide. Thanks in advance your your thoughts on these matters.Take care and good luck in the coming weeks.

I'm not Bob but I'll tell you this from the experience of going through 2 bankruptcies. If the union and company reach an agreement (concessionary or not) you better hope that it has the blessing of the creditor's committee and Judge. Otherwise there's not a single thing to keep the company from filing a 1113 motion seeking to impose concessions on whatever you've just agreed to. In other words, any agreement reached outside the 1113 process that does not specify that the group will not be asked for further concessions through 1113 is worth no more than the paper it's written on.
