TWU launches union drive of Southwest mechanics to decertify AMFA Read more here: http://blogs.star

I stand better odds of winning the lottery than the TWU stands of getting SouthWest AMT's to join the most docile union in the industry.

Just a reminder since Frank McCann Jr., TWU organizing director likes to make personal attacks. The Junior McCann is nothing more than a product of the nepotism corruption that has plaqued the TWU for years. He only holds the organizer position because he is the son of the late Frank McCann senior, the life long appointed previous International Vice President,

He is not an Aircraft Mechanic, he knows nothing about the profession, and he needs to be told by ALL AMT's in this industry to go pound sand.

Soon the TWU will lose the AMT's at AA. It is not a matter of "if", only "when"!

Speaking of winning the lottery...appeals courts just recently affirmed the district court award to Frankie for getting his butt kicked by the IAM. I wonder who paid the legal fees, and if they were then reimbursed from the award?
The jury awarded $211,492.81 to Frank McCann, $111,400.90 to Frank Trotti, $276,683.51 to Jeff Osborne, $158,997.93 to Timothy Grandfield, and $53,403.00 to Joseph Carbon.

TWU 2011 LM-2 Report
FRANK MCCANN DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZING $215,726

Add this to his $211,492 jury award and this guy doesn't have a clue what it means to suffer concessions.

He would be classified as RICH in my opinion.

Out-of-touch, paid patsy and only because he was the son of a lifetime appointee of the TWU.

$426,000 plus and he wants to tell me what union I need?
Screw you McCann you can kiss my ass.

Thanks for the link......and good find!!

For the record, the incident involved was the organizing drive for the ramp people, not Maintenance.

I can't believe the TWU would try to interfere with the operation of another airline. Attempting to cause havoc with discontent is a crime. It's obvious the lawyers haven't done their homework. Southwest will sue them into oblivion.

I hope you mean Southwest employees. I don't think the airline can sue a union recruiting membership, but I could be wrong.

Apparently, nobody is looking in the mirror. Those who say the TWU is bad, would obviously switch to another union if given the opportunity. I doubt the TWU just decided to go at WN and start recruiting, they obviously have been doing their homework. Maybe at WN they view AMFA the way AA views TWU.

No we don't.

It is all BS.
If they had done their homework they would have found that the IBT got ZERO intrest from us that we would want to change away from AMFA.
They went door to door asking us if we wanted to change during our merger with Airtran.
We told them clearly no.
They got the message and didn't even attempt to object to AMFA representing both groups.

It's all BS. TWU will not get enough for a vote. TWU is starting to get scared of the AMFA drive at AA. So just like the teamsters, they will do and say anything to try to save their bits from getting fired at AA. It's coming soon guys. Won't be long until a vote happens at AA. Can't wait for you guys to come on board. Then UAL will next after the merger is done.

The TWU just agreed to massive concessions, job losses, pay cuts, benefits reduction ect...
AMFA has successfully brought in the 4th line as the co has announced that the 4th line will start early next year. As well as maint soon in ALT and MCO and now new maint base in DEN, which will be growing in early 2013. Open negos, all officers are elected by membership, at both local levels as well as at National level whom all can be removed from their positions by the membership. Yea we vote on a lot of stuff, but that's how it is with AMFA, we control our union, not some trucker or bus drivers running it.
With that said, we will not bring the TWU here at SWA.
TWU has agreed to concessions with AA and went out and sold the concessions to the membership for decades; 1983-1993-2003 and now in 2012. They almost kept their perfect record of every 10 years, missed this last one by one year. No thanks. Don't need them. Their just pissed that they will be kicked to the curb soon at AA.

So sue me because I was speculating. So the TWU is just p-ing in the wind.

PS- I am not a recruiter and couldn't care less.

The TWU has never done "homework" not even for those of us already paying 2 hours pay per month for representation.

You are correct regarding the airline and lawsuits against an organizing union.

You got around 25% participation in your officer elections. The apathy for AMFA at Southwest is very similar to when the IBT got dumped. Members were pissed at the IBT and now they are done with AMFA. Southwest just took a little longer to catch on that you guys have been taking their dues and doing nothing but extending an IBT contract with your team of "professional" negotiators. The same ones that "negotiated" away all those NW, UA, and AS jobs. AMFA knows their idea of a craft union having power is a failure. They lost at UA and NW, rolled at AS on overhaul, and have done nothing to improve the status quo on jobs at Southwest.

Southwest M&R has had enough of the failed dream. The cards are starting to come in I hear.

And AMFA clearly isnt interest in overhaul members. They have already written them off.

“‘The mechanics decided to take a different path, so we’ll have to see what happens,’ Prisco said. ‘The Teamsters aren’t very informed about MRO [Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facilities] and what the changes have been for the last 20 years. Their basic position is all work should be done at the airlines. Well, that ain’t going to happen. That argument should have been made 20 years ago, when the outsourcing trend was starting’, he said.”

And who has been making the argument to keep the work in house? The TWU that's who.
