U.S. Airways tanks across the pond

typical...sad yet typical...lets just keep denying that things are so bad.....
Things were NEVER this bad on The EAST during BK1 or 2. Or even during the Infamous Meltdown in PHL over the Holidays in 2004 (and that AGAIN can be attributed to PP MANAGEMENT). Something is seriously UP here.......either they are UP to No Good (behind the scenes) or there is a reason why this poor operation continues to fester. I do not trust these fools further than I could throw them and the longer it takes for them to IMPROVE THE AIRLINE (their internal verbiage of the inhouse program) the more I question What in Hell is really going on here?

But I thought the HP/US merger was one of the best of it's time. It makes AA/TWA seem like a cake walk!

MOD NOTE: Welcome to US Aviation.....Please do NOT quote entire lengthy posts in your replies, ESPECIALLY when you are right below the original.

Also--note this topic is merged.

You are no America West! People at America West CARED ABOUT THE PRODUCT and stepped up to help instead of whined and complained and then do nothing.

USAir East I flew you out east long before the merger and you were a bunch of Lazy, unhelpful, arrogant, tools back then too. You have never tried to make things better, you all love your misery way too much and you decide you must share it with any and all. I'm amazed this place still exists and I hate the fact that Parker found a way to buy this abomination. He should have let it die.

I've seen it said on this thread twice that David Neeleman was removed, or ousted, as head of JetBlue.

I have no idea where that came from, but Neeleman is now and always has been the CEO of JetBlue.

At least according to the JetBlue website.

They would never oust one of the few real airline managers over a weather related screw up. At least Neeleman took immediate steps to ameliorate the damage and to assure his customers that there would be measures in place to keep it from happening again (as is humanly possible, anyway.)

Neeleman is a visionary of the likes of Herb Kelleher. He's not going anywhere, and I don't think he would consider taking the money and running off like most of the rest of the greedy morons running the country's airlines.

This is what I know of Neeleman from a JB pilot.

Prior to SWA I have no clue.
He was fired by Herb after a meeting where he supposedly said something to the effect "Screw the pilots". Herb made him sign a 10 year no compete clause in the U.S. to get a severence package.
He then went to Canada to work for a company up there. I don't remember which one now.
Check out the link posted by BoeingBoy. It explains his removal. During the meltdown he was supposedly in operations/dispatch micromanaging operations. His dispatchers were telling him to cancel the flights and shut down the system to which he replied "NO" If only he had listened to his people and cut his losses he would still be CEO today.
A lot of this I know is second hand info, but it explains a little.
The new CEO Barger is supposedly the brother of one of the senior captains.

I've a few comments to make. Firstly, Parkers' insistence on governing the "costs" of the merger notwithstanding..you cannot go from a Westerly LCC type op to a full-blown coast to coast op with T/A and carribean service and keep the same play book. How did this get overlooked? Also, the gamesmanship of protracting negotiations with Boeing and A/B for the "best deal" has put the T/A op so far behind that I'm surprised it still is. The 76's are dead tired..or just dead. The 75's with the cute wing tips are dead tired...and DEAD. (nice paint though). A330's...? running full steam ahead for over 6 years non-stop...(again, half-dead)....gee. They finally "played" Airbus/Boeing for all they were worth, and decided...meanwhile, the semblance of aircraft still flying are in the $hitter....but let me quote Parker.."...that's where the money is..." This is no way to retain or OBtain new European travelers'...there's too many better options out there. I want this to all work out, but these dudes better figure out that if you get the big bucks.....better start playing big league ball....before it's too late.

I thought the same thing -- it is like management does not care or is too busy with something else to properly focus on the airline. My bet is on the latter. I am sure Parker is still on the merger hunt and there are probably loads of closed door meetings to sale this POS to a carrier and a management team who can run a large airline.
